If you're looking for a nice, quiet, family getaway, don't stay here! Obviously, the management will rent to anyone so what you end up with is a four-star accommodation with a lot of one-star guests.
This past weekend, I had the misfortune of staying at the Inn at Grand Glaize. College-age partiers screamed, sang and slammed doors all up and down the hallway, all hours of the night. When I tried to notify the management, no one was at the desk. When I went to the cafe to try to find someone, the waitress/barmaid who was super-phony friendly at dinnertime yelled, "We're closed" from behind a locked door.
From what I overheard at dinner on Friday night, college trouble makers are the norm here and not the exception. A host at the cafe was overheard telling diners, "I always tell them they can go one of two places: to bed or to jail." What a great selling point.
It's difficult to protect children from everything these days, but a 10-year-old should not be subjected to repeated screaming of the F-word by people old enough to handle themselves with a little consideration.
Sunday morning's shower was tepid at best and the pool had an interesting shade of green to it on Thursday and most of Friday.
In short, if you're an adult and you're looking for a nice place to stay, this isn't it! Invest the extra and go to Tan-Tar-A or Lodge of the Four Seasons. You'll be much happier with the experience and you won't be trying to recover from sleep deprivation when you get home.
