female with a moderate budget, traveling for leisure
We stayed at the Imperial Hotel in September 2009, I was expecting long lines & slow elavators but they were not bad at all. We checked in on a Thursday around 4:00 in the afternoon we had about a 5 minute wait in line. The elevators were ok no real wait. The room was a little outdated but quite & clean. The only negative was probably the lobby smoke. For the money I could not ask for more.

We like staying here because its cheap and center strip. Also, a really fun crowd hangs out here. We really like that their are balconies and we love the rockhouse on the weekend!(its the nightclub/lounge in front of imperial) But the downfalls of the imperial palace are the elevators. They are so extremely slow. One time we waited 20 minutes for an elevator. We were on the 16th floor or we probably would have taken the stairs. Overall a fun vacation though.
female with an economy budget, traveling for leisure
We arrived on Sunday night and were ready to check into our hotel just before 11pm. Check in time is anytime after 4pm. There was a huge line waiting for check in and when we finally made it to front desk at about midnight we were told they were still cleaning our room and we would have to wait about 30- 45 minutes just like everyone else who was checking in at that time. The concierge gave us a voucher for $15 off any of the restaurants in the casino and said she was getting us a room upgrade. We were happy with that. We played the slots for a short while and headed over to a second line where we were supposed to get our room key. This line was even longer than the first line. We waited and waited and waited until finally a lady came up and told some of us that since we had a room number on our bill we could wait over in another section. So we wait, some people were super mad and were yelling but since that rarely helps anything Rob and I waited patiently. A few hours pass, they keep saying it will be soon and they will call us when our room is ready. By this time is was about 2am. We keep waiting... Everyone else seems to slowly be moving through the line and getting rooms. Those of us who were told to wait in the other area were now lying on the ground of the lobby trying to stay awake. Finally at about 3:30 in the morning I had enough and pretty much snapped. I got in the line of people who were slowly getting rooms (many who arrived after us) and eventually got to speak with someone at the desk. It was 4am, we had been waiting for 5 hours, our first night in Vegas wasted lying on the floor of the lobby of a nasty hotel. I basically freaked out on the lady who worked at check in who just told me to calm down and got us a room after I bitched for a few minutes. When I asked her what kind of compensating we would be getting for wasting our time we were told a manager would call our room in the morning. Surprise surprise no one called in the morning. We had to go back down to front desk and ask for a manager. He apologized and offered to comp the first night. We were OK with this and went on our way. After we told our family and friends what happened everyone agreed that they really didn't do enough for us at all. Judy, one of Rob's family members is a Platinum member at the chain of hotels, she went to the front desk to complain on our behalf. She spent about half an hour and talked to about 3 different managers who refused to do jack for us. Basically it was horrible service all around. Never stay there. They also apparently have a reputation for bed bugs. Luckily we didn't have to deal with that.
We have loved are stay at imperial that ever year that we go we always stay hear at imperial.would not want to stay any other place. The staff is great and have never had a problem. This will be are ninth stay come this Oct.

Excellent
I was very happy with my room at IP. The bathroom had double sinks and it has a great balcony that overlooks the city. Yes, the band downstairs was loud, but who wants to sleep when you are in Vegas! Room was very clean and the staff was great. ...

Good
We stayed here before, 21 years ago. The place is not as glamourous as other hotel close by, BUT the staff was kind, good service. It is in the middle of everything that is happening in Vegas.
