30 year old male with a moderate budget, traveling for business
I recently stayed at a Hyatt hotel for about 12 days. Upon check out I paid the balance as usual. The total charge for the stay was about $1390. A few weeks later I received a bill from my credit card that had a $250 charge from the Hyatt. It turned out that it was for smoking in a non-smoking room. I did not smoke in the room. I found out that the only evidence they had to determine that I had smoked was verification from two managers that the room smelled like smoke. But I did not smoke in the room. Nobody did during my stay at the Hyatt. I told them that I did not smoke in the room but they did not beleive me. What could I do to prove that I did not do it? Aside from denying the allegation, nothing! The time to present this charge to me would have been at check out. Now I am across the country and have no way to prove that their allegation is completely false. The burden of proof should be on them, not me! I will never stay at another Hyatt hotel again. I am completely unsatisfied with their resolution of this issue!
