tigeronback icon Hyatt charges faulty $250 fee

30 year old male with a economy budget, traveling for business

I recently stayed at a Hyatt hotel for about 12 days. Upon check out I paid the balance as usual. The total charge for the stay was about $1390. A few weeks later I received a bill from my credit card that had a $250 charge from the Hyatt. It turned out that it was for smoking in a non-smoking room. I did not smoke in the room. I found out that the only evidence they had to determine that I had smoked was verification from two managers that the room smelled like smoke. But I did not smoke in the room. Nobody did during my stay at the Hyatt. I told them that I did not smoke in the room but they did not beleive me. What could I do to prove that I did not do it? Aside from denying the allegation, nothing! The time to present this charge to me would have been at check out. Now I am across the country and have no way to prove that their allegation is completely false. The burden of proof should be on them, not me! I will never stay at another Hyatt hotel again. I am completely unsatisfied with their resolution of this issue!

Do Not Stay at the Hyatt Hotel. They only care about one thing. Money. They will do unscrupulous things if it means an increase in profit.

70 year old male with a luxury budget, traveling for leisure

It was convenient and priced right. The staff was good and handled the routine items well.

I am somewhat likely to return to the Hyatt Vineyard Creek Hotel and Spa.
I might recommend it to friends.

bigpdaddy icon Big, new hotel - mediocre location

33 year old male with a moderate budget, traveling for leisure

This hotel is nicely furnished and decorated and has many rooms and conference facilities. It's above average in this regard.

My disappointment with the hotel is that it has a misleading name. This hotel is nowhere near a vineyard and the spa is a minor part of the experience. In fact, the hotel is on a busy intersection a block from the freeway, in a strip-mall type area. The location is the biggest downside to the hotel.

I was disappointed with the pool. There were not enough lounge chairs (guests had to hoard them which led to some pretty obnoxious behavior by one of the other groups by the pool - not us though!) Also, the pools suffers from being near the freeway with a limited view of the not-so-scenic "creek". Also, the pool grill opened about 15 mins late - which felt like hours as I had been waiting for it to open all morning!

The hotel is located within walking distance (though you have to cross a major street and head north a few blocks) of a downtown area with cute shops and breakfast places. I'd recommend checking it out.

Overall, for over $200/night, and the words vineyard and spa in the hotel name, I expected a more relaxing experience than I received. Maybe a good spot if you want or need to stay in the Santa Rosa city, but I'd try something actually in the wine country next time.

I am not likely to return to the Hyatt Vineyard Creek Hotel and Spa.
I might recommend it to friends.
