40 year old with a moderate budget, traveling for leisure
PROS: Loved the food and the music at the downstairs "Grill at the Strathallan". They make a mean cajunburger and the jazz is first class (and I mean first class). The staff was very friendly.
CONS: But our room was really crappy. The AC kept us awake all night, the bed was old and really uncomfortable, the couch was worn out, the carpet had a huge burned spot. Finally, the breakfast was very dissapointing. We had lukewarm coffee and stale cones.
CONCLUSION: Don't stay there but try out the Grill. They have great music on Friday and Saturday nights.
We have stayed here twice in the past year and I don't plan to go back. The 1st time we stayed in an awful, unrenovated room. It was dirty and falling apart with old, thin towels and sheets. The next time, we were told that renovated rooms...
This is the worst hotel on the planet. Rude unhelpful staff, dingy smelly rooms, horrible service. Stay in your car or under a bridge before you stay at the Strathallan. Do not believe the good reviews or if you do -- check the date!! This hotel...

Please take my word for it and DO NOT stay at the Strathallan hotel. The service was beyond rude and the rooms were disgusting...stained carpets, broken toilet, no table to eat at, etc. My family and I were called liars by their staff and the truth is that we never lied about what we experienced. A service man came to our room an hour and a half after I called about the broken toilet and continued to bang on our door until he had woken up our son who, by the way, was sleeping in our bed b/c their crib turned out to be a pack 'n play. He was getting bitten all over his leg too. My complaints about this hotel could go on and on but I will stop short and just say...DO NOT put yourselves through the trauma of staying at this awful hotel.
Do not go by the pictures online, thats for sure!!! This hotel is old and dingy. The carpets are stained and the rooms smell. The service was very poor and at times the employees were rude. No table to eat at in room, toilet didn't work, left...

The Strathallan is supposed to be one of Rochester's premier hotels, but though we booked our wedding party 6 months in advance, our rooms were not together as promised, there was no full-length mirror in the so-called bridal suite, and they...
Great location,can walk to some good restaurants, great folks, rooms/ bathroom in need of renovation, don't stay on 2nd floor above meeting rooms, was up until midnight listening every tired out wedding song ever written.
Can't wait to come back!

I stayed at the Strathallan hotel 3 weeks ago even after reading a few poor reviews about the property- I was very pleasantly surprised! This hotel doesn't at all deserve those bad reviews that I read about it. My 3 night stay went very well....
