38 year old with a luxury budget, traveling for leisure
This was our second trip to this hotel. We love almost everything about the hotel, the room was fabulous, the staff is friendly, the lobby is luxurious, the grounds are beautiful and there is a lot to do there. However, if you have small children like we do, you may want to go somewhere else if you are planning on sitting by the pool. They have a number of pools there-three adult only type pools and one zero entry pool with a small slide for kids geared towards families. I was very disturbed to learn that they are now allowing guests to smoke at this pool. We discovered this over the weekend when a number of guests lit up near my two infants. When I politely asked her to put it out (because I thought it was a non-smoking area) she became irate and caused a scene making for a very uncomfortable situation. I called the front desk and no one came to the pool area and upon check out they informed me that "they have no control over open air spaces." I wrote an email to the general manager and have not received a response back yet....still waiting. Depending on the response, I may not go back again, even though we love it there. But if I am planning on spending my entire day at the pool, why should my family have to worry about being subjected to breathing in someone's cigarette smoke when there are a number of non-smoking hotel resorts out there for me to choose from. Families were eating at the pool and there were atleast 20 infants and a pregnant woman there. It's just not fair. I just don't understand what's so hard about designating an area for smokers away from the kiddie pool. The Regency Club has also changed. They no longer have any hot foods, very basic. The continental breakfast consists of bagels, bread and cereal, drinks are not included, no snacks and very basic cold hors d'oeuvres (cheese/crackers) not worth $100.00 per day. The restaurants are very expensive, most people eat off property across the street. Not to mention the bugs are out of control-bring bug repellent. If you have small kids don't take the ferry to the beach-not worth the aggravation. There is a slippery metal ramp leading into the ocean because the dock is gone. The beach is almost gone because of beach erosion. They are working on fixing the problem. We learned the hardway. Luckily two strangers helped us carry the stroller and the cooler so we could carry the kids through the rough water to get to the beach. The shells are fabulous on that beach though if you are a shell collector.Just some food for thought before making your reservation. I have to give it a 3 out of 5 because they allow smoking at the pool. If they fix that, then I will change my rating to a 5.

It was very pleasurable experience. The hotel was great. It can't think of anything. If they could have controlled the weather we could have made some mores. I thought everything about of was worst. The people, service and grounds was top notch.
Excellent customer service, family-friendly pool area.Complimentary beach lounge chairs and umbrellas were not made available due to beach erosion. Great resort for couples or families looking for an all-in-one resort. Beautiful common areas,...
