My friends and I recently stayed here 4/16-4/19/08. Run for your life to another hotel! It took us 1.5 hours to find a key that would open the hotel room door. We called for the concierge and I went to the Gold desk for help. Neither person had keys that would open the door - even the pass keys wouldn't work. This building is apparently very old as the air duct in our room pointed to the opposite wall in front of the window and unless you were standing there you would suffocate anywhere else in the room. The bathroom had NO VENTILATION whatsoever. The shower had mildew on the walls which I asked to be cleaned and it never was. For a room costing $200+ it was a disgrace. I've had much better/cleaner rooms at many, many other chains. NEVER AGAIN!!!

Stayed here overnight last February on a Hotwire win for about $80. The hotel has a very welcoming and lively feel to it, and the front desk was very accomodating in getting a nice room, and very friendly in pointing you to the right tower for your room. Got a great night's sleep, and awoke well rested!

Hotel's location is pretty much ideal, a short walk to both the Magnificent Mile and Downtown State Street. Navy Pier is also within a reasonable distance.

I'm sure it's not the easiest place to afford in prime season, but if you find a good deal on it, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the place.

I stayed at the hotel for 3 days for a convention. All of us were appalled: we were served hot dogs at the opening reception for which we had paid $20 a head. I was declined a glass of water because I had already used my drinks coupon. The rooms are not as clean as they should be and the bedside lighting is highly unpleasant. Otherwise the hotel is rather well run and efficient, and the staff fairly pleasant. But the quality of the food and cleanliness made me wonder what was grand about this place.

48 year old man with a moderate budget, traveling for leisure

As a business-person and frequent traveler I have to say that my stay for New Years Eve at the Chicago Hyatt was the worst experience I have ever had in a hotel - world wide.

From the over-priced room "with a view" (dirty windows looking at the river?) to the smoke-smell to the messed up dinner reservations..the list goes on. We gladly paid the full "all access, up-graded room" cost, trusting Hyatt for a great New Years and my wife and I were sadly disappointed to the point of checking out at 7am New Years Day to drive back home.
