Hyatt Place Atlanta Airport South Hotel

The hotel was very clean. The staff was friendly and very eager to accommodate any request. The location was very convenient to the MARTA train station. I would highly recommend this hotel.

I've stayed at Hyatt Place properties before. When I arrived at this one at 10:15 PM after a long day, the manager informs me that they're oversold and that my guaranteed reservation is no good. They sent me 4 miles away to a place I spent 30 minutes searching for ("It's easy to find, sir!"). The alternate is a dump -- dirty, noisy, uncomfortable, etc. What a mess!

I arrived on 11/5/2007 and checked in; I also accompanied two of my colleagues who arrived the day after and who tried to check in on 11/6. My coworkers were told that their confirmed, PRE-PAID reservation could not be honored because "a group staying at the hotel had to extend their stay an extra day".

We asked the manager on duty if anyone other people had not yet checked in for the evening and if we could take those rooms instead. He insisted that the hotel was booked and that there were no rooms remaining to be checked in.

They sent my coworkers away to a nearby hotel (which was dirty, uncomfortable, and a big step down from even this property). Since I had my own room confirmed (because I arrived the previous night), I decided to hang around the lobby for a while just to see what happened.

Although the front desk turned away more than a dozen people who showed up with preexisting reservations in the 30 minutes that I waited there, they also let two other people check in and gave them keys to their rooms! At this point, the manager jumped in and said that those people were "part of the group".

The manager therefore lied to us twice: not only were all of the rooms NOT checked in by the time my coworkers were turned away, but also, this mysterious "group" couldn't have been "extending its stay" for an extra day since the people in the group were apparently just checking in!

Unfortunately, all of the other hotels in Atlanta were full due to a conference, so my coworkers could not go anywhere else. It sounds like Hyatt Place simply decided to sell my coworkers' already-sold rooms to a group which had more money and/or contracts than us. It's simply bad business.

And, come on: the group "had to extend their stay another day"?! The hotel was full, period, so if management had any integrity, they simply needed to tell this group that their stay could not be "extended" because other people had booked those rooms.

Even if Hyatt Place were going to sell out, at least the manager should have admitted that to us rather than lying about it.

I've been a business traveler for 10 years and I've never seen anything this shady. I will never stay here ever again.

This was the most convenient place I've every stayed with my family. There is a checkin kiosk as well as hotel staff. Very high tech from ordering food on a touch screen computer terminal to the large flatscreen in the room.

Very comfortable bed and furniture and an easy place to stay.

My family stayed at this hotel for one week in June 2007, my husband was there on business and my two children and I went along to vacation. I was happy with the hotel and our room. The room was clean and comfortable, every staff member was very friendly, helpful and made us to feel at home, I guess it is part of the Southern hospitality which I LOVED and I'm not use to finding back home in Las Vegas. I would recommend this hotel to other travelers.

I'm not giving this hotel a perfect ten because there was a couple of minor drawbacks. The hotel was advertized as having a laundry room for guests

and this was very important since we were traveling with children and staying for a week, we had to drive several miles to find a laundry. I thought that the complimentary breakfast ended rather early 9:30am, so we missed breakfast every morning. The food sold in the lobby was rather pricey I think that we paid about $30 for some snacks and sodas. The flat screen tv was a nice feature, but the room rate only included about ten basic channels, you had to a pay a premium price for any additional channels or movies (much more than you'd pay at home or to rent a movie), and there was also a fee to listen to statelite radio through the tv. I thought that some of that should have been included in the room rate and should not have been add ons.
