Stayed there two nights with the kid (got 2 rooms) recently for the cirque du soleil tour. I was looking for a nice hotel to treat the family; the rooms were attractive with nice bathrooms and linens etc. but the sports bar food and service were terrible. They inform you that you won't be waited on, you have to go back up to the bar and look for your food yourself. Our daughter didn't get the item she ordered so we had to wait another 20 minutes for that to be corrected. For a $12.00 cheeseburger w/ fries, and $8.00 glass of wine this is not what I expect. The directory in the room was very disappointing; didn't include information on other places in the area or the hours of the restaurants which I'd expect to see, the internet service was not free which is unbelievable in this day and age. I could've gone to a local Mr. Donut and probably have gotten free access! There was a huge wet spot in the carpeting which was gross to walk on in barefeet. It seemed to be emanating from the airconditioning unit in the wall. When I informed the front desk, they did promptly call an engineer to look into it. When we returned to our room there was an industrial fan on trying to remedy the wet floor which it did not. I should have insisted on moving to another room. My kids were taking a nap in the afternoon when the maid came to do their room so she left but never came back later to even deliver fresh towels. The parking fee bothered me because the website advertises $15.00 a night rate. We found out that you're charged by a machine everytime you pull your car out of the garage so if you don't want to be charged hourly rates everytime you go somewhere, you better plan on hoofing it or paying for a cab! I've stayed in less expensive hotels that have a small refrigerator and microwave but the Hyatt had neither. Don't plan on buying bottled water from the vending machines either because there is none. I think they want you to purchase the room temperature bottles of H2O that they tease you with on the desk at $3.00 a piece! Aside from the attractive room (albeit wet) and bathroom and nice linens, this hotel did not offer service or amenitites to warrant the rate we paid. Next time, I'll either bite the bullet and save $50 on a room, or I'll do more research. This certainly can't be the best hotel in Columbus.

Okay
Great location if you're doing business downtown. Expect to pay for it though. There is no free parking on site. There's a public parking garage a block away which charges $14 a night. On-site valet is $21 a night. Additionally, the hotel charges $9....

Excellent
We stayed one night for a quick getaway. The valet was extremely friendly and helpful, as well as the front desk clerk. Our room was available immediately after a very quick check-in. The room was clean with a very large bathroom in our king bed...

From the time we valet parked our car to checkin the whole process was AWESOME! Every employee that we encountered was so nice and helpful. The bellman that helped us with our bags to the room was so imformative. He gave us info about their restaurant, the city, and other helpful info about the hotel. The Plaza Restaurant was great! The food/presentation/quality and service was top notch. We heard that the chef won quite a few awards and it shows. The mall attached is not really there anymore, but there are plenty of things to do nearby. My family and I stay in downtown Columbus a few times a year and love to go to German Villiage, the Arena District, COSI, Short North, and a few of the local shops. We always treat ourselves to one evening of Room Service in the hotel and have Family Movie night. All of our experince at this property has been Amazing it's like our home away from home.

It was a little expensive for the room size and somewhat rundown condition of the bath. The high speed internet service was an additional charge, even though I am a Hyatt Gold Card member. For the price of the room, I would have expected this to be included.
I am somewhat likely
to return to the Hyatt On Capitol Square.
I might recommend it to friends.
