54 year old man with a moderate budget, traveling for leisure

I can't believe Hyatt has let this beautiful beach/resort area go. As an owner of a timeshare there, I'm very surprised that Hyatt allows the resort to appear as it does. When we bought our timeshare, the place was beautiful. The hotels were open, the pools were beautiful, the restaurant that was poolside was reasonably priced with good service and beautiful surroundings. There were also other restaurants within the resort itself that are now closed. The building has been let go, also. The rooms were dirty with mold in the bathrooms, the floors were gritty with dirt, and sand, and the cement on the exterior of the building was flaking off. When we brought relatives back with us the second time we visited, we were embarrassed and

sorry that we bought it. Never again will I recommend buying or staying at a Hyatt timeshare or hotel. What happened Hyatt?

60 year old man with a luxury budget, traveling for leisure

The Hyatt Vacation Club at Hacienda del Mar, is one of the biggest scams ever pulled on vacationers who with good faith come to enjoy a few days in the sun. The name Hyatt is used as a front. In reality, there is nothing there, even a dog may want to dig his way out of that place! it's worse than you think, no real food, no entertainment, and much more of nothing. Save your money and stay away!

The Hyatt hotel chain took away all the major attractions we were enjoying at the two properties, including the main hotel buildings of Hyatt Cerromar and Hyatt Dorado. Hyatt has closed the Cerromar including restaurants, stores, casino, which were the main attractions for our decision to stay at Hacienda del Mar at Hyatt Cerromar Beach. Then they closed Hyatt Dorado Resort. Because of the closing of most of the conveniences of the Hyatt Cerromar Hotel, we are basically left with only the timeshare building itself, and a pool. Welcome to jailhouse Hacienda del Mar. I say "jailhouse" because if you want to buy anything, i.e. groceries, or a decent meal, access to an ATM you must hire taxis and it costs $8 per person to local town and $60 each way to San Juan where the closest casinos are.

Only a couple of years ago, this whole property was self-contained as a timeshare casino resort/Hyatt hotel should be. Unfortunately, this is no longer the case. If the Hyatt does not make a deal with the current property managers at Dorado Beach properties, Kemper Sports, pretty soon there will no access to the Dorado Beach lagoon either. The lagoon is the best beach for families with children.

The beach is absolutely beautiful and the rooms are comfortable, and I was treated just great, until I was mugged on the hotel grounds. After that, the hotel appeared to want to just hush it up and did not arrange for the police to come to me to do a report. In the hotel's defense, they did warn guests not to jog after dark or alone.

I am not likely to return to the Hyatt Hacienda del Mar.
I would not recommend it to friends.
