Howard Johnson Southington Hotel

I have stayed at many places in the Southington area and this place is the worst I have ever been in. I have no clue how it remains in operation. The room was dirty, filthy actually. The phone was never cleaned and had black marks on it. The furniture and pictures were dirty. The bathroom was not even clean. I went to the desk for another room and was told the only other room left was a double room with no smoking. They had a whole day to go and check this room. The bathroom floor had water all over it. The bottom of the toilet had hair and urine stains and the molding had black mold all over it. The corners had spiders and webs. Since I had been there for more than 20 minutes I was forced to stay since I could not get a refund and all the other places in the area were booked for the weekend. The carpet was so dirty and the room had a musty and moldy smell to it. I will never stay here again.

I am a frequent traveler to Southington CT and have stayed at most of the hotels in the area. I have stayed at this one on a number of occasions over the last year. With the exception of one other hotel in the area, it would have to be an emergency for me to stay here again.

They do not have accessible internet as the website says. The knob on the iron was broken off; the knob to adjust the heat was broken off. The room was dirty. I had to soak the coffee maker to get the crud out of it before I could use it. I final got hot cups for the coffee late on the last full day I was staying there.

They booked me into a room with no heat.

Not so great. The first indication that this was not a great place was the fire alarm that I noticed on the wall as I was searching for my room. It had a note on it which read " Out of order...for emergency call 911". The bed in my room was broken down on one side and I had to sleep on the other side. I observed a mouse crossing the floor during the continental breakfast and the carpeting was a little rough and worn in the hall ways. My company made the reservation and prepaid for the stay so I was stuck. I can not recommend this hotel.

The hotel room was very dirty and the bathroom fixtures were broken or did not work well.
