Howard Johnson Mount Laurel Motel

I travel to Mt Laurel once a month to my office and liked this place because of the proximity, and at the time, the only place to offer free internet access. After staying there for 4 years, I will never go back again. I had a discount reservation this week for 4 nights. I went to check in and the receptionist who knows me well decided to book me as a walk-in for only one night. She didn't say anything and handed me my key. When it didn't work the next day, I found this all out. You would think the manager would take care of it. No, they said I had to pay full rate because they canceled my reservation and were not willing to honor it and drop my rate by $4 per night. They were oversold and knew they could rent the room if I left. This is their customer service.

As far as the quality of the hotel, even though it stinks as you see on some of the other reviews, I dealt with my white socks turning brown from walking on the floors and the run down conditions because I liked the free breakfast, proximity to my office and the internet access. I tell you it's not worth it. There are 10 places within walking distance where you can get the same or better deal. One other thing, if noise bothers you at 3:00AM, don't stay there. There are people banging doors and yelling all night long.

We checked in on a Saturday evening (not a high traffic weekend) The sign says $ 59.00 out front, but when you go to the desk, the hotel manager said that is only during the week, and it would be $ 69.95. By the time he rang it up, it was $ 79.00!

It would be nice if they put it on the sign. We were given a key to a non smoking room, lower floor near the office. I went back to let them know that the bathroom door had been kicked in from the inside so we wouldn't be held responsible. They didn't know apparently.

The next morning, we checked out and gave them a bent in half key card that was on the desk, I guess they didn't know that either. In addition, the non-smoking room's bathroom stunk of cigarette smoke. I was very disappointed, there was no offer of a credit for the condition of the room, and no iron either!

The room was clean, if a little dilapidated. Wallpaper was bubbling and peeling. The free continental breakfast was light, even for a continental breakfast. The price was right, however.

It was a very common stay at Howard Johnson Express Inn Mt. Laurel with no problems or surprises.

There were no problems that were not handled immediately on any of our 4 visits. Only wish we had found this location last year. Most recent stay dec 29 & 30, 2004.

This hotel made me feel relaxed: Outside entrances, very comfortable bed, quiet, smoke free, breakfast, fox news channel,good tv picture, good furniture, polite & efficient staff, close parking, security cameras, reservations via internet ready, early check-in.... 4th visit this year.
