The staff was pleasant, however, the condition of the room as unacceptable. I found a dirty, used washcloth in the shower and a used tissue in the bed linens. At 8:15 a.m. there was no hot water for a shower. It was difficult to watch television due to poor picture quality and the room was too dark to read - even with all six lights on. The breakfast was poor compared to other hotels in the area. Most importantly, I found the mattress in immediate need of replacement. During the night the sheets became loose and while I was tucking them back in I found large stains on the side that had the appearance of blood. I notified the front desk and was told that the manager would contact me. He never did.

It was the most comfortable hotel I could remember. I slept great as the bed was nice. There was a mix-up during check-in. I didn't get in until one a.m. and the receptionist thought it was a problem for me to stay alone as an under twenty-one year-old, so it took a few minutes before they cleared it up, my reservations were made under a group, and I was sharing a room.

This hotel made me feel secure: I had no problems with other clients, and I shared a room with a girl I hadn't met before, but everything was fine.

We stay here frequently for family visits and to see our son at his college in Boston. But the facility is getting tired and dirty. It’s in need of a major cleaning and redo as it is competing with many new and newer hotels in the area.

Howard Johnson's is within walking distance to other restaurants. The room was clean and big. The price was extremely reasonable.

It is very close to UMass Amherst where my son is a student. I have always had a good experience with this particular hotel.
