Even if I were a fugitive from the law, I would not stay here again. The room was dirty, carpets were stained, filthy A/C Heater unit missing cover, large dusty cobwebs hanging from the ceiling over the beds. No washcloths or handtowels other than the one that was hanging in the bathroom tied up, and it was dirty. The only thing that appeard to be clean were the sheets, and I slept in my clothes as the carpet had fleas. A little maintenance and repair, a little updating could improve this property immensely. We had originally booked a king room as well only to be changed to a double room with an ancient saggy mattresses. Working girls were in the parking lot promptly at 10:30 pm. Sorry, Never again.

Okay
No bugs. The man at the ft desk had a hard time understanding English. The hotel was just what we needed for the night. I had to help the ft desk man read the numbers on my form. Overall it was nice.

Good
The maid service was wonderful, the ladies were helpful.
Not all the front desk staff, however, were professional for such a public business. The morning staff should take better care of their appearance, and not look as if they just got out of bed....

Horrible
No pool - cold coffee for breakfast - packaged stale danish for breakfast. The pool qualified as a big bathtub. THere is not enough parking for the rooms so late arrivals get to park in a restaurant parking lot.

The rooms were extremely clean and comfortable. I appreciated the free internet access. We had to return to the area the next weekend and were a repeat customer.
I am very likely
to return to the Howard Johnson Express Inn Orange.
I would definitely recommend it to friends.

Horrible
When we got to our room, we discovered that there was no hot water. We had to shower in another room that was very dirty. It was horrific. I still have nightmares.

For our purposes, this hotel was fine. We had booked with Travelocity so we had backup if anything went wrong, but we didn't have any problems. The room was a decent size and we liked the layout.
But we were happy to have those amenities as we saved on food expenditures that way! Not sure about any continental breakfast, hot tub, Disney shuttle, Internet access or fitness room as we've seen posted because we didn't ask or go looking for them.
One thing to note if you are interested in ease of travel and getting about is that the hotel entrance/exit is a shared driveway (with a rather good bump/slope to it) with a gas station and small Japanese restaurant. This driveway is right off the entrance to the neighboring highway. When leaving the hotel you can only turn right so if you're going to Disney, as we did, you have to finagle your way across that freeway turn lane and across Katella traffic to the left lane to make your way down Katella a couple of stop lights before making a U-turn to go back to the park.
Our room was not right next to the freeway and we did not experience problems with traffic noise.
There were a couple of loose outlet covers and only one outlet available for the hair dryer, coffee maker, fridge and microwave. But overall we had no major complaints and no issues during our stay.
