I want to say the positive things first...The room & bathroom were clean & well maintained. The walls were sufficiently insulated so that the neighbors could not be heard. The staff was friendly & we had no security worries. The continental breakfast was OK, 2 kinds of cereal, fresh baked goods, fresh fruit, & the coffee was not bad. Very close to good restaurants & the BC Cafe on the lot was WONDERFUL.
That being said I must add the following...
I had read the only other review & thought "It can't be as bad as that". I WAS WRONG!!! The king bed was only 4" thick & as hard as a bed can possible be. My husband referred to the sheets as SAND PAPER!!! In this day of wonderful fleecy blankets there is NO EXCUSE for the rough thing that was on the bed. Glad that we have learned to bring our own pillows & down comforter.
In addition we faced the on ramp for Indian Hill & the I'10. We stayed there for 3 nights because we were there for the NHRA Drag Finals & it WAS only an easy 5 mile drive to the track.
But will we EVER stay there again or recommend this place to anyone? NO!

The bed was a little hard, the hair dryer broke but was replaced within an hour. It didn't have a microwave as stated online.
I am
somewhat likely
to return to the Howard Johnson Express Inn Claremont.
I
might recommend it to
friends.

49 year old woman with a moderate budget, traveling for leisure
The hotel is old and rundown. It was undergoing room renovations, but the building itself needed some major brightening and cleaning. The place was creepy, especially at night when returning to our room. It was right on the freeway, too, so it was rather noisy in the room. The room was clean, though, and reasonably comfortable, but small. I would not likely stay there again.
This hotel made me feel comfortable: The bed itself was comfortable to sleep in and the shower was adequate.
I am
not likely
to return to the Howard Johnson Express Inn Claremont.
I
would not recommend it to
friends.

All services at this Howard Johnson's were good as well as our stay. We did not like the mildew smell that was in the room. Maybe the air conditioner needed to be serviced or cleaned. Turning it on made the odor a little worse.

It was difficult to find the hotel as we were not given complete driving instructions or we didn't understand the instructions.
This hotel made me feel comfortable: The room was very satisfactory and gave me a feeling of being secure. It was a one night stay and it filled the bill for our travel needs.
I am
somewhat likely
to return to the Howard Johnson Express Inn Claremont.
I
might recommend it to
