It was clean and it did have a nice continental breakfast.I just felt I had stayed in better quality hotels and it came up as a 2 star hotel. Clean but not what I was looking for as a hotel I needed for business travel.

Convenient location for shopping and sightseeing.Slightly overpriced. Hotel staff very friendly with efficient check-in and check-out. Rooms lobby and public areas were very clean.

Location - 1 block from the Energy Solutions Center.It really is as noisy as some of the reviews mention. I'm partial to Motel 6 because they're always clean and reasonably priced. This place was comparable (but pricier) with an excellent location....
58 year old female with a moderate budget, traveling for leisure
The location was perfect for sightseeing, arrival by train and within walking distance to car rental. It was very comfortable, safe and good service. My only complaint was that there were not any restaurants open nearby on a Sunday evening, but I believe it was because in Utah things close on Sunday.

64 year old male with a luxury budget, traveling for leisure
I made two stops at this hotel one going to Reno and another coming back. I requested a handicapped room with two beds. At check in they said no such thing existed. Upon check out I advised them that there was a leak in the shower and that the door to the bathroom was hard to open. Upon returning a week later at check in we were informed that the rate quoted was incorrect and due to a convention in town the rates went up. The person at the desk stated that they did not inform anyone about conventions. They also had not attempted to correct the items we had informed them about.
I am not likely
to return to the Howard Johnson Express Inn - Salt Lake City.
I would not recommend it to friends.

Excellent
For a 2 star, the continental breakfast and exercise room were very nice.The coffee was not good. The room was clean, the staff very friendly and helpful, and the location great.
