I will get to the point and just state all of the awfulness we encountered while staying at the Howard Johnson. We booked four rooms at this hotel for a family wedding. They only couple to NOT have problems with the manager was the couple with out kids! We were told by the manager shortly after we checked in that he "doesn't like children and doesn't know why we brought them!" We were told that next time we would have to get two rooms because we have four children. My husband would have to stay in one room while I stayed in another. My brother and sister-in-law were yelled at for using room towels at the pool! In front of their three year old daughter. The manger complained to ME when my brother-in-law hadn't paid for a fax that he received. Even though they hadn't checked out yet. He called my husband a liar! He hung up on my sister TWICE while she was trying to call one of the other hotel rooms. He told my sister that the pool would be opening an hour later than usual because of chemicals in the pool. She showed up with her daughters at the designated time. He then called her a "pushy woman." Upon returning home I contacted Howard Johnson numerous times concerning all of this. They did NOTHING. They said that I had to take it up with the manager of the hotel because it is a franchised location. My conclusion is that the manager AND Howard Johnson do not wish to accommodate families. If you have a family with kids RUN AWAY!
