Horrible
There is a reason the picture of the hotel was taken at night: you would not want to stay there if you saw it during the day. The service was acceptable, but there's almost no amenities. The room was clean but there were stains all over the place...
The price was a little high for what we got. The sink took forever to drain and they never fixed it. The toilet backed up twice and the front desk lady was multi-talented. She worked the front desk and fixed toilets! That's my biggest complaint -...

Good
The young lady who checked me in was very kind and friendly. I needed a room on an upper level, and she gladly assisted me on my request. She was very polite and the friendliest person to ever check me in. I checked in around 700p on 11/15.

Okay
The hotel should have a good cleaning. It also needs to be sprayed for pests. We saw cockroachs, crickets and beetles in the room and hotel. The hall carpet is full of stains, but the room was a little better. Conveniently located and swimming...
36 year old female with a luxury budget, traveling for leisure
We had reservations and one of our children got sick the day before arrival. We needed to change our reservations by one night (not cancel, just extend arrival date by one night). We called 24 hours prior to arrival time. They would give us the reservation for the following night but still wanted to charge us for the night that we wouldn't be able to make. You can cancel most places the 24 hours in advance or even same day of arrival with no charge. Not this place, their policy is 48 hours, with no exceptions. So, instead of giving our patronage to them, we chose to go elsewhere. I also called their headquarters, Ken Greene's office, and they said there wasn't anything they could do because it's franchised and each place makes their own policy. Never again will I consider Howard Johnson's for any future vacations.
