Howard Johnson Express Bakersfield Hotel

Woke up in the morning to a bed full of bed bugs which then turned into scabies. 7 prescriptions and 5 doctor visits later I have a lot of scars. Threw away my pillow and nightgown the morning I woke up. I have a huge scar on my hand which was infected by a bite between my thumb and finger. Continental breakfast was a joke; mostly "ladies of the night" enjoying it. Manager didn't care said maybe I could get a 20% refund. Called corporate, each one is independently owned so they don't care. How do you spell crappy customer service??????????

Only thing good I can say about this place is the location. The spa was filthy and thankfully, no one went in. The pool was very cloudy but it had people in it. The cable was fuzzy and the beds were old. We didn't check out the "continental breakfast" but from what I read, it's a joke. I've already sent an email to the corporate about this place and management. Everyone else should do the same that has stayed there.

I have never stayed at such a bad hotel before. It was dirty and nothing seemed to be working. We were supposed to have coffee, a fridge, a microwave and an iron, of which we had none. The fire alarm was broken. The pool was dirty and the Jaccuzi didn't work. The phone to call the front desk from the pool was missing. The front desk person was rude. The bath tub would not hold water. We were set-up for a two day stay and the key to our room wouldn't work on the second day. The towels were not changed. It's not a hotel we will ever stay at again.

For the price it was an okay place to stay.

I was hoping for a bar or cafe on premises, but guess they don't have that at 'express' locations.

This hotel made me feel comfortable: Good size room, big comfortable bed, cable TV, coffee maker, fridge and microwave in room. Plenty of towels and 'mini's.
