Howard Johnson Charlotte Motel

Hotel Hell. Traveled in the middle of the night...lobby doors were locked shut. Lobby carpet was soiled and frayed. Ceiling tiles were stained. Computers were down so they tried to double charge me for a room that I had already paid for online...thank God I had my confirmation page. Room issued me was hot and stuffy. I had to step over the dirty carpet remnants in front of the door.Upon turning on the lights I was horrified to find that there was no air conditioner unit! Too many men lurking around in the halls. No help with luggage. No excellence at this hotel. Run, run away! I did. I didn't feel safe!

Run Away!Hotel Hell. I will never stay at a Howard Johnsons again! This one in Charlotte, NC is the ghetto hotel from hell! Both lobby doors were locked and no one was to be seen to help me. I called [...] and the Customer service rep called the HJ to let me in! The night clerk was very unorganized. Since the computers were down, he had no way of telling who had reserved a room or not. If I didn't have my confirmation letter, I would have been crap out of luck! The decor was outdated and the lobby rugs were torn and soiled. Upon entering my room, I noticed that the air conditioning unit was gone! I called down to the front desk and he sent me over to another room in which there were shady characters hanging outside the new room. It was terrible. The place smelled of smoke and sweat. I did not see any bugs, probably because they were already in the bed. I gave back the keys and called Sidestep to cancel with a full refund. The certificate of Outstanding Hotel Service, that they proudly hung near the check-in counter, was issued in 1998. I expected to see the Texas Chainsaw Massacre standing at the front desk. Anyway, I told the night clerk that the service/hotel was horrible. He shrugged. Beware of this place! Run, run away!

This hotel is an outstanding place to stay.

The complimentary breakfast sucked!
