This hotel has one thing going for it: a pretty lobby. But it has several major flaws. First, the rooms are cramped and in desperate need of updating. The water pressure is terrible and the air conditioning is very old, doesn't cool and is VERY loud. The "free internet" doesn't work (super slow and drops the connection every two seconds) and the front desk staff is incredibly rude about it and simply tells you to use the business office, which has computers that you have to PAY to use. Absurd. Another big problem is that this hotel is located in a bad neighborhood. We were harassed every time we walked out the door. The "fitness center" is a very small room with virtually nothing in it. Parking is $28/day. Bottom line: stay elsewhere.

Horrible
A hotel close to Union Square for $. To good to be true? Exactly. The room is fine if you don't mind carpeted floors with stains and gum and have low expectations. The hotel needs a total makeover. Close to downtown if you don't mind walking...

I reserved a room for four nights and as soon as I checked in I knew I needed to find a different hotel. The electrical outlets in the room did not work, the blow dryer short circuited and was left without electricity for about 20 minutes, light sw

Excellent
We spent the weekend in San Francisco at this hotel. I can not say enough about it and the staff. The parking was expensive but worth it. We are planning another trip in the next two months and will be returning.

Good
I have stayed at this hotel many times. It's a great location with MUNI and BART just outside the door. Some blocks to the East are kind of dicey at night, but otherwise, I love this hotel!
Problem: I ordered an extra blanket and it came up dirty. I ...

If you don't mind sleeping with earplugs (the hotel provides them) so that you don't hear the loud music from their nightclub situated in their first floor, this is the place for you. I would never stay there again.

I enjoyed staying at the Whitcomb. For the Super8ish price I was paying I don't think I could have found better in SF. It might depend on which room you get, though. My friend got a room down the hall, and mine was better (larger, bigger bathroom,...

The hotel itself is interesting. The architecture and interior design is very different than modern hotels and was a nice change. The rooms are small, but that is expected in older hotels. It was clean. The bathroom showed some new...

This hotel is centrally located in San Francisco. We didn't rent a car during our stay and were able to use the public transit. The subway entrance is located right by the hotel and was easy to use. The hotel has quite a history, as it was the...
