Hotel Vitale is located directly across the street from the Ferry building. It has a very nice restaurant with a fun bar located on the floor level. There are tons of great places to explore only walking distance away. San Francisco?s famous Pier 39, Ferry Building, Fisherman?s Warf, and much much much more. If you are looking for something special, book the circular suite... The view is amazing!
Just so you know, on Nov. 10 2006 NYU literature professor and author N'gugi wa Thiong'o was staying at this hotel while on tour promoting his new Random House novel when a hotel staffer ordered him to leave the premises, even after he protested...
I will start off by telling you that I stayed in one of their suites. I found that the room was beautifully lit and decorated with simple furniture yet it was very stylish. The room had a spacious bathroom, a dining table that could fit five, a...
pros: trendy barThe hotel is noisy, because it is next to the Embarcadero (a six lane highway). After requesting a quiet room, I was put next to the elevator and the electrical equipment. Every ten minutes there was a grinding sound and the room...

Horrible
Incredibly noisy hotel, right next to Embarcadero highway. Bad attitude and unhelpful staff. Charged for an item not purchased. Expensive, limited room service. Tiny room with almost no storage space. "Trendy" hotel in a dead neighborhood. You can...

I stayed for a week and half, and booked a quiet room. They put me in a room next to electrical equipment and the elevator. I kid you not, it rattled and there was a grinding sound every ten minutes. They know about it, so they left a "white noise" machine by the bed. Each floor has such a room. When I complained after two nights, they said I could move, but that "check in as at 3 pm." The new room was noisy, as the hotel is next to the Embarcadero highway.
Their room service is limited and expensive. The rooms are really small and there is almost no storage space. The neighborhood is boring (in the financial district), and there is nothing to do around there on the weekend.
I love SF and have stayed at many other hotels. This hotel is expensive, and you can do much better, with better service and less attitude.
If you look for a quiet room, go elsewhere. This hotel is right next to the Embarcadero highway. They even put "white noise" machines in the room to block the din. The rooms are small with little room for storage. Room service is expensive ($19...
I was in San Francisco for a girls weekend for my 40th birthday. We spent several days in Napa, one at a very cheesy hotel. The next night was at the Vitale. We were both just giddy the whole time we were there. The hotel is fabulous. It is...
Hotel Vitale is superb! I visited from Chicago and never have I had better service, or met a more welcoming staff. The hotel iteself is modern, chic, and in great taste. However, the service just simply cannot be beat. When I come back to town,...

The hotel is really nice but the decor is a little too stark for my taste -- very modern and minimal. The room had great bed linens and towels. I love the turn down service with chocolates and water. I like the extras (mini-bar) available in the bat
