Friendly young staff.Only had an indoor pool. The Viking is a great up-scale, older hotel in perfect condition, in a great location. Our windows opened to allow in fresh air, and we could walk to great Newport locations easily. Highly recommended.

Great location, a lot of character, and very nicely decorated rooms. The snobby attitude of the front desk personnel. We enjoyed this classy historical old hotel with character. Very nicely decorated rooms and lobby area.

I loved the Hotel Viking's character. It was an older hotel and felt rich and welcoming. The air conditioner in our room rattled and the bathtub faucet leaked all night long. Absolutely wonderful hotel; friendly staff, great decor and comfortable bed....

Horrible
Being treated as 2nd/3rd tier customer was not fun. The staff definitely treated us as second-tier customer. We were first placed at an extremely small room without a tub or any furniture (I assume the room was intended for a handicapped). Then,...

Beds were comfortable & towels were plush & clean!Wallpaper in rooms peeling. Carpets were "smelly". It was most annoying to have to walk two city blocks to get ice and vending, as well as the long walk to the pool! No matter how long I had my...
29 year old female with a luxury budget, traveling for leisure
I went to this hotel with my sister last weekend and found the place to be overrated. The location is good but other than that I feel its overpriced.
First, the staff messed up our reservations and we ended getting moved into a hotel room between a floor of a wedding party. The whole entire floor of this hotel smelled like a public toilet. Unfortunately, it wasn't just in the hallway but the small standard room smelled terrible.
We also had a mix up with our parking, and the valet told us to "Self Park" in the hotel non secure lots. In the end the hotel charged us the same price as if the valet had parked it in a secure lot. That is outrageous and unacceptable. We were misled and had we known we would have parked our car in one of the free public lots. I would not return to the Viking, but will opt for a B&B next time.
