60 year old man with a moderate budget, traveling for leisure

After you get past the construction in downtown Phoenix the hotel was like an oasis.

We came for a Diamondbacks game and walked to the game. The lobby was lovely with it's crystal chandeliers and copper clad elevator doors. The service was friendly and efficient. The room was comfortable and well appointed. The pool on the 3rd floor was great but not heated yet. I guess they wait till it's under 80 outside.

Lots of Phoenix history and movie star stuff. Cool. We had the buffet breakfast, fast, cheap and good. The bar was great as well. The bartender made us feel like family.

55 year old woman with a moderate budget, traveling for business

This is a lovely hotel, decorated in 1930s stylish charm. The ambiance is delightful and welcoming. Known as being haunted, the San Carlos offers good sized rooms, a free continental breakfast, daily newspaper and an assortment of hot beverages, not just coffee, to prepare in your room. There is a rooftop pool with nice seating around it.

There is a restaurant on site. Parking was a challenge due to construction although there is off-street parking available close by.

I am very likely to return to the Hotel San Carlos.
I would definitely recommend it to friends.

43 year old woman with a moderate budget, traveling for leisure

This hotel is on the National Registry of Historic Places and is indeed charming. The adjacent restaurant is also historic and served an excellent dinner meal with an impressive wine list and wonderful ambience. But I was unprepared for the constant approach by the homeless for food or money on the corner where this hotel is located. The bed in my room was lopsided and obviously worn, but the room itself was lovely and had numerable amenities. The bathroom was the smallest I've been in anywhere in the world, but was to be expected as the hotel was built in 1928. The service by all staff members was outstanding. The airport is a very easy drive to and from the Phoenix SkyHarbor Airport and easy to find from I-17.

I am somewhat likely to return to the Hotel San Carlos.
I might recommend it to friends.
