Situated in the historical centre, the Petrol Hotel, Istanbul boasts both interesting origins and an impressive contemporary identity. This unique property was the first petrol-station of Sultanahmet (old city) in the 1950's and now operates as one of the city's foremost popular and affordable hotels. Overlooking the Blue Mosque and the Hippodrome, guests here will feel the magical embrace of Istanbul's charm around every corner. From upscale shops to downtown Hammam, this exotic and cosmopolitan destination has everything, all within easy reach. Welcome to an outstandingly-run hotel, where staff believe that professionalism and a personal approach go hand-in-hand. In fact, the rooftop terrace is the place to be on Saturday and Sunday mornings over breakfast, where classical and baroque guitar is often played by the hotel owner. Your hosts want you to feel completely at home, so don't hesitate to ask about Turkish baths, tours, tickets, laundry, baby sitting, car rental or just local tips for an authentic experience of Istanbul, old and new.

The hotel is a total beauty and best location of all hotels. You can reach to the new city(Taxim) in 10 minutes by tram and the station is 20 meters from the hotel. In every 10 minutes a new tram comes.
We stayed at the hotel in June and the management were very helpfull to us.Most major gay bars and clubs were in Taxim Square but from the hotel to Taxim it takes 5 minutes by tram and the tram station is in fron t of the hotel. There are nice gay hamams near the hotel and you can find boys which makes gay city tours there.
All our guests were wellcomed at any time of the day to our room and we spent wonderfull 2 weeks with no problems exept the seagulls voices in the morning.
DIRTY!!. I had a dirty and stinking room on the 1th floor. I book room with airco, but the airco was not working. The bathroom was so dirty. The hotels advertises as gayfriendly; there is nothing gayfriendly in the hotel.
