Welcome to New York's Hotel Pennsylvania. It's one of the five largest hotels in Manhattan (over 1700 rooms!) with an impressive history. Its location in the heart of midtown is directly opposite Madison Square Garden and Amtrak's Penn Station. Macy's, the world's largest department store, is one block up the street. The Empire State building, it's around the corner. The Javits Center, it's a few blocks away. So too is the Theatre District. New York's Hotel Pennsylvania is in the center of the action.

We had booked 7 nights. The lobby is nice and we thought great, we were wrong.
The receptionist was rude. We went to our room only to find that the lights did not work. The room was a box with only enough room to move around the bed if you held your breath in. On the verge of crying after planning our trip to NY for 6 months we went back downstairs and complained thankfully the lady we first saw was busy and a nice man upgraded us.
This room was 3 times the size and had a nice view to the Empire State building. It was still very old and crappy. The shower/ bath looked like it had never been cleaned.
Location is great but very noisy at all times of the night with people inside and out. There were so many people all the time.
No room service. If your after something very basic this is it. But don't stay any longer than 2 nights.

I would never stay here. The check-in line was so damn long. It took 1.5 hrs to check-in. It was ridiculous! The rooms were run down and disgusting. The bathroom tub was rusty and moldy. The water was leaking all night. It was the most ghetto hotel ever. What topped it off was that our neighbor was so damn loud. I can't believe I paid $230+ for this room.

The lobby and reception staff were very nice the hallways and decoration were clean and acceptable. The rooms were very old and needed major rennovations. Rusty pipes, faucets, and other hardware in the bathrooms, holes in the towels, very uncomfortable beds, dirt and rusty drain in the shower. Just very outdated and not well maintained. I'm very glad I got a discount on this room through this service otherwise I would have been much more upset at having paid full price for this room. I'm glad I made this trip without my kids. On the plus side-Manhattan is amazing and this hotel was located in a very nice section and close to all the major attractions and transportation.

For the most part the staff was friendly and helpful, the lobby was nice and it was a great location, but that was about the best of it. The following issues arose in our room.
1) No clock.
2) No Hairdryer. Realized it when I got out of the shower and had to call for it to be brought up and that didn't work and had to call for another.
3) Iron, but no ironing board.
4) Paint chipping in the room.
5) The one pillow for each bed were like rocks.
6) The heater did not work, only cold air.
7) Out of the two lights in the room, one did not work.
8) The room itself was not very warm or inviting and had a creepy feel to it as did the floor itself.
We were only there for two nights and did not feel it was worth complaining of these issues as we were really there to shower and sleep. But the first night there at 4:30am there was a large thud against our door (Room 1503)and some voices that scared me to death. I called the front desk who transferred me to security who said they would check it out and never heard another word. The next morning I felt it was time to raise the issues with the room and wanted to speak to someone about the incident at our door. The woman at the front desk said there was nothing she could do except possibly change rooms but that would not be available til later that day - she wouldn't even get the manager for me (I wish I had gotten her name.) The last thing I wanted was to take time to change rooms when we were only there for 2 nights. I was looking for some type of reassurance regarding the incident at our door and maybe some assistance with the ammenities not in our room.
I am not likely
to return to the Hotel Pennsylvania.
I would not recommend it to friends.

This hotel was not very clean and the service was terrible. I had left belongings at the hotel and when I came back to New York, it took a half hour just to get through to housekeeping who then informed me they couldn't help because the supervisor w

Our Hotel Pennsylvania experience started when we arrived at 7:00 p.m. on a holiday weekend. While we waited online for approximately 1 hour to check in (which we were told is relatively short) in a lobby with no air conditioning, I needed to use t
