This boutique hotel in the middle of town has a legendary ambiance. Art nuevo, feng shui, a touch of European sophistication and high-tech amenities make this a stunning hotel. Conde Naste Traveler listed Hotel Parisi one of the "Top Twenty Small Hotels in America." The lobby is spectacular seeming as though nature pounced into the space; a fireplace warms the soul, a large fountain wrapped in climbing vines reaches the ceiling, the soothing sound of trickling water meld together to create a serene atmosphere. The clock behind the black granite front desk, is not an illusion as light projects the time upon the wall. Around 3 o' clock, I checked into the luxurious Prospect Suite. Living flowers greeted me at the door. Views the Pacific, city street lights and the bustle of the seaside village were abound. Across the street I watched a black limo pull up to La Valencia Hotel. I watched briefly, as someone nondescript jetted into the hotel. Perched above I felt this would be a perfect hideout for a spy, perhaps James Bond. Oh and Bond, that international dream lover would adore the bathroom, fit for a wild escapade. Ooh la la! A long sleek bathtub, told me I was not getting away, not yet. Lavender bath salts in hand I poured then into the tub. Double sinks, granite tile and a glass shower overlooking the bathtub made this bath one of the best yet, as I watched my sleek companion lather soap upon his body as water poured upon him from twin shower heads. I felt like I was watching some sexy movie in the tub, or perhaps starring in the movie. The rooms at Hotel Parisi are spacious, much more than across the street at the Valencia. The bed is yet another experience unto its own. 390-count linens, feather comforters, exude a fresh feeling of dreamy rest, almost as if counting sheep were a part of the mix. Yet that is not necessary as the bedding is pure bliss. Tall 10 ft ceilings give one a feeling of lofty space and French style windows breathe morning light to awake you gently. All rooms have a CD player and a library of movies available to watch. Parking, as well as a continental breakfast are complimentary. Various services are available on call from yoga, massage to acupuncture and even a clinical psychologist. The hotel lacks a gym and pool, not surprising as it is a small hotel, besides who needs it when you are provided with custom shampoos, great views, and the whole of La Jolla to explore?
