My mom came to visit and we have stayed at many hotels but nothing is like this one. Every room has glass walls, giving you an unobstuctive view of upper or lower Manhattan. Amazing and took my breath away.
I stayed in the Rivington in January 2006. It is the only nice or new building in the middle of a sort of a slum area known as the lower east side, complete with dirty sidewalks, run down storefronts flag the hotel. My room was very dark by design....
My experience at the Rivington was exceptional. The guy who took us up to our room was unbelievably friendly and showed us a couple of other rooms that were different stlyes than ours. We got a corner room with the chartreuse theme and a view all...

i remember when this area of town was one to strictly avoid. well, not anymore. the location doesnt get better. close to bars and everything that's happening in downtown new york.

this is the highrise hotel on the lower eastside.
maybe we just missed the securtiy guard, but we could just walk in and take the elevator to the topfloor. the space was still unfinished, but already good for parties it seems so (hard party...
