It has been said that "the French Quarter begins in the lobby of the Hotel Monteleone", indeed, with its positioning at the head of Royal Street just a block away from Bourbon Street, the Monteleone stands as a historical landmark in itself. Built in 1886 by a successful Sicilian shoemaker, this striking "Beaux Arts" styled hotel takes pride in its hard earned reputation for excellence which is reflected by its host of awards, the result of four generations of the Monteleone family ownership. With its award winning restaurants, tranquil rooftop pool and famous Carousel Piano Bar - a slow revolving cocktail bar with a wild circus design; it is little wonder that the hotel was a regular haunt for American authors such as William Faulkner, Tennessee Williams and Ernest Hemingway who immortalised the hotel in his story "Night before Battle".

The service was deplorable. No assistance with bags and management did not care about our concerns. The rooms were very, very small for the price. This was the most money I have every paid for a hotel room and the worst service I have ever experienced.
So much for the money! Beauty, class, and elegance

Excellent
I have stayed in many luxury hotels and resorts. And for the price, this hotel is too good to be true! It is in a PERFECT location on Royal Street, directly behind Bourbon. It is within walking distance of EVERYTHING worth seeing and beside...

Okay
This hotel looks very elegant when you first see it because it is very detailed from the outside. When you walk in the lobby and the carousel bar, they are very elegant and clean. All of the flowers and plants in there are real! But when my husband...

Upon arrival to the hotel, the parking was a mess. There were 5 of us traveling on 3 motorcycles. They made us park in a garage across the street in a back corner which wasn't even a parking spot. We parked all 3 bikes there. Then they...

The hotel is lovely. Perfect location for the Quarter - everything w/in walking distance. Hotel rooms nicely appointed, but the bathrooms are small. Loved the pool upstairs with the bar right on site...nice touch for a hot day in the Big Easy! The hotel's spa, Aria, is simply fantastic. I've heard from more than one source in our party that this was "the best massage" or the "best facial" I've ever had. It's not a big spa, so book services early - they fill quickly. The hotels has a nice service on-site regarding airport transportation - ask the front desk. Overall, an amazing experience and one that no one wanted to end!
