The hotel is lovely. Perfect location for the Quarter - everything w/in walking distance. Hotel rooms nicely appointed, but the bathrooms are small. Loved the pool upstairs with the bar right on site...nice touch for a hot day in the Big Easy! The hotel's spa, Aria, is simply fantastic. I've heard from more than one source in our party that this was "the best massage" or the "best facial" I've ever had. It's not a big spa, so book services early - they fill quickly. The hotels has a nice service on-site regarding airport transportation - ask the front desk. Overall, an amazing experience and one that no one wanted to end!

i have stayed in many hotels during my numerous stays in new orleans and i can tell you, if it is old world style, cultural authenticity and a luxury stay that doesn't necessarily come with a luxury price tag, the moneteleone is all that and more. the monteleone is one of a small number of hotels in new orleans (i can think of only 2 or 3 more that i would stay at or recommend) that breaks the chain hotel mold - i know this to be true as i have stayed at the marriott on canal, the j.w. marriot on canal, the sheraton on canal and the iberville suites (part of the ritz carlton family of hotels) just behind the ritz on canal. they all have that cookie cutter look in their linens, furnishings and decor. not the monteleone. everything, down to its bar, is done in a unique, true, old world new orleans style. i am a cleanliness frak as well, and this hotel meets my standards each time i have been there.
as for parking issues - anyone who has been to the city knows parking is at a minimum and most hotels have off site parking. some even have their parking handled by contracted companies not a part of the hotel itself. i found this out the hard way when i had something stolen out of my car by one of these companies while staying at the st james. even then the hotel made good on the stolen items. new orleans is a city that lives off of the tourists dollars; therefore, hotels cannot afford to lose potential return guests, especially post-katrina new orleans.
the monteleone houses guests' vehicles right across the street from the rear of the hotel, which is much better than blocks aways as some hotels in new orleans do. as for damages to vehicles - i drive a 50th anniversary corvette and have taken it to the monteleone twice with no problems and would not hesitate to take it there again. i would suggest, to those who had problems with vehicke damages, a more vigorous attempt to recoup monetary reimbursement for damages to your vehicle if it is damaged by this or any other hotel unless, of course, they have posted signs that disavow any repsonsibility for damages caused to your car during your stay. if that is the case, as many more hotels do in fact post such signs, then you are, as they say, stuck.

The hotel is one block off of Rue Bourbon, so it was a quiet location. I stayed on the 5th floor and could not hear any street noise. The room (suite) was clean and big. Well worth the money. You will not need a car if you stay at this hotel. ...
