Interesting European-style hotel in downtown D.C. Converted to a hotel from what I believe was once a large bank, the rooms feature 12-foot ceilings with very odd angles making the semi-spartan spaces all that much smaller. Our well-appointed suite featured a queen size bed with along with an "amenities armoire" (mini-bar, stereo, ironing board, robes)...but space was very, very limited.
The hotel itself is a unique place that I would highly recommend over your run of the mill hotel chain. Expect contemporary styling with minimalist furniture and bold colors.
If you do give the Monaco a try, be certain to enjoy one of their signature "bacon bloody mary's" - a definite thumbs up!
I am somewhat likely to return to the Hotel Monaco Washington DC. I would definitely recommend it to friends.
