53 year old with a luxury budget, traveling for business
I travel to Portland several times a year on business and like to stay downtown so I can park my car at the end of the day and walk to restaurants, shops, etc. I've stayed at the Heathman Hotel and Benson Hotel in the past, and decided to try the brand new Hotel Modera.
What a great hotel! Even though it had just opened a few days prior, the staff was excellent and had obviously been well trained. They were very friendly and knowledgeable about downtown Portland.
The hotel is just about 2 blocks off of Broadway, which I loved. The hotel actually has a real entry driveway so you can drop your car off without feeling like you're going to get killed by another car driving by. (I've always hated parking at other downtown Portland hotels.)
The lobby area is beautiful with lots of walnut and interesting artwork. I loved the central courtyard with its living wall and fire pits. I actually sat outside at the end of the evening for a while and just relaxed without all the noise associated with being on Broadway.
The rooms are really nice, with top-of-the-line linens, beds and other furniture. The animal throw on the bed was a fun touch! There is a doorbell for each room, and an electronic do not disturb system -- no signs here. The decor was hip but even though I don't consider myself all that hip....I felt comfortable here.
