53 year old female with a luxury budget, traveling for business
I travel to Portland several times a year on business and like to stay downtown so I can park my car at the end of the day and walk to restaurants, shops, etc. I've stayed at the Heathman Hotel and Benson Hotel in the past, and decided to try the brand new Hotel Modera.
What a great hotel! Even though it had just opened a few days prior, the staff was excellent and had obviously been well trained. They were very friendly and knowledgeable about downtown Portland.
The hotel is just about 2 blocks off of Broadway, which I loved. The hotel actually has a real entry driveway so you can drop your car off without feeling like you're going to get killed by another car driving by. (I've always hated parking at other downtown Portland hotels.)
The lobby area is beautiful with lots of walnut and interesting artwork. I loved the central courtyard with its living wall and fire pits. I actually sat outside at the end of the evening for a while and just relaxed without all the noise associated with being on Broadway.
The rooms are really nice, with top-of-the-line linens, beds and other furniture. The animal throw on the bed was a fun touch! There is a doorbell for each room, and an electronic do not disturb system -- no signs here. The decor was hip but even though I don't consider myself all that hip....I felt comfortable here.
centrally and conveniently located in downtown. there's a gym around the corner and the hotel provided a free pass there. the rooms were average (nothing special). bathrooms were clean. the restaurant was okay, a little overpriced.
Shower oveflowed (drain fixtures not working),no remorse from the desk when told at check-out. Eight dollars to park. Window had to be propped open with a book to get fresh air, (all other rooms did the same thing), no AC, place is sub-standard from ...

Okay
This is the oldest Days Inn that I've ever stayed and it's obvious with the outdated single pain windows that don't block any sounds to the old smell and look. At the end of the day if you just want a place to sleep, well, it works...
