This place looks great due to the staged professional photo shoot. Rooms are musty, cramped, dusty, for example the front of the toilet seat is within 5 inches of the shower exterior wall so you have to mount the toilet like a horse or sit side saddle. I complained, they offered me a room that had a broken safe, so I could use the one in the room next door, yeh right! Then they had towels and plastic sheeting over some of the room doors due to the usual reain storms and down pours that flood some of the rooms with 1-2 inches of water. The "regulars" at the bar are very "HUNGRY" TROLLING for visitors. Danny is great at the front desk, he deserves a better hotel.
variety were excellent. The poolside bar was a great place to congregate and visit in the afternoons. You won't go wrong by staying at the Mercurio.

I ended up at Hotel Mercurio almost by accident, because I arrived in town on short notice.
It's a great little place, fantastic location in the old town "Zona Romantica" close to the beach and many restaurants. It's a simple hotel, but I like it that way, and the staff was very helpful, the breakfasts were good, and the desk lets you make free phone calls to the U.S.
