This historic hotel originally opened its doors on June 11, 1931. The warm and inviting Spanish Colonial architecture provides a welcome entrance to the Santa Barbara waterfront area. The Hotel Mar Monte has 173 comfortably appointed guest rooms, most with views of the Pacific Ocean or the majestic Santa Ynez mountains. All rooms feature Serta Five Star Perfect Sleeper mattresses with cozy down comforters and duvet, plush robes for use during your stay, refrigerator, microwave, coffee makers with Starbuck's coffee, hair dryers, iron and board, color television with HBO and pay per view movies, and FREE wireless high speed internet access. Gated self-parking is FREE for registered hotel guests. The Hotel Mar Monte is 100% smoke free facility. Smoking is not permitted on hotel property, and is not permitted on guest room balconies. We offer a limited number of rooms to guests with dogs. For convenience, these rooms are all located in our Santa Rosa building, which is across the street from a park. These guest rooms are in the STANDARD room category. Dogs are not permitted in our Ocean View or Deluxe rooms. If the standard room category is unavailable at time of booking, we regret we would be unable to accept a reservation including a dog. Dogs must be crated when left in the guest room without the presence of their human caretakers. For liability reasons, we are unable to allow the following breeds - Akita, German Shepherd, Rottweiler, Pit Bulls and Pit Mix, Doberman Pinscher. Staff was not friendly & not professional. I asked them about possible places to see and didn't seem to be familiar with any of the wineries or even Zoo thats less than a mile away. I was very disappointed with them.

Horrible
We checked out 15 minutes after checking in. The hotel was overbooked, we didnt get the room we had reserved, the room was small and smelled of urine. Would not recomend staying there to anyone.

Horrible
Hotel changes our room reservation without notice. Puts us next to giant air conditioning units above kitchen.If I wanted to stay next to a runway at LAX, I wouldn't have gone to S.B. to do it. There are -much- better hotels.

Literature in the hotel and in advertising indicated a restaurant in the hotel which was no longer there. Our rooms (2) were not ready when we arrived, even though we arrived after the designated check-in time. Our rooms were not as reserved: no handicapped access was available and they were not adjoining. Apparently, the few handicapped accessible rooms are available only on a first come-first serve basis and can be requested by anyone, whether or not there is a handicapped person requiring such access. Reservation requests for such rooms are taken, but not guaranteed or in any way 'saved' for a client indicating the need at the time reservations are made.
I am not likely
to return to the Hotel Mar Monte.
I would not recommend it to friends.
