39 year old man with a luxury budget, traveling for leisure

Before checking in, I received an email from a desk clerk asking me if I needed any assistance and if I was in town for something special. I just said that we were bringing our dog and wanted a care free weekend. When we got there, they had a sign at the entrance welcoming our dog! Even in the room they had already placed and setup a little area for the dog with a dog bowls, treats, and even a nice little dog bed. The staff were super nice, everytime I would walk through the lobby, everyone would greet us by name. They even offered us a glass of wine (which apparently they have a wine hour every night) which made the stay that extra special. The room was big with a nice balcony that we walked out onto. The restaurant was very intimate but in the high end, with no snotty waiters, which we loved. I can't recommend this hotel enought... you just have to try them for yourself.

34 year old woman with a luxury budget, traveling for leisure

While Hotel Madera is in a great location - in close promixity to the happenings in D.C. - it is far from a luxury hotel. My fiancee and I recently stayed here - and we left duped over the $200/night price tag. Our room was tiny and the bathroom was virtually non-existent. The decor was nice, but the thin walls and stained bed pillows left us wanting. Bottom line: There are other hotels in D.C. that are more spacious and comfortable - and far less expensive.
