Location. The Escalante Hotel in Naples, Fla. is an intimate luxury hideaway reminiscent of an old-world Mediterranean villa, nestled in two acres of exotic tropical gardens and located two blocks from the beach. The hotel's transportation whisks guests to shopping at Fifth Avenue South and Tin City, both less than one mile from the hotel. The Historic Naples Fishing Pier and the von Liebig Art Center are both one-half mile away, and the Sugden Community Theatre is one mile from the resort. 55 year old with a luxury budget, traveling for leisure
This pretentious little place describes itself as a 5-star, quiet, and intimate hotel.
Upon our arrival on February 11/07, we discovered that the place was adjacent to a major construction zone (a condo building is under construction). We were awakened at 7:20 a.m. every morning with the arrival of the construction crew, and the sound of loud trucks moving equipment, etc.
The staff never disclosed this situation to us even though we had made it clear to them that we were looking for a very quiet and restful place. We were charged over $400 per night for this extreme inconvenience.
Under the circumstances, we approached the owner for a discount on our bill, but she refused to do anything. After a few days, we were fortunate to find a much better accommodation right on the beach.
