Hotel Del Coronado

The Hotel del Coronado is one of those iconic places that you should visit once during your lifetime - even if only for a breeze through it's beautiful structures, lovely courtyard, and gorgeous pools/beach. The staff are wonderful, and the atmosphere is relaxed and sophisticated at the same time. It was a visit I'll never forget as the feeling of the Hotel del remains with you long after your stay. Spectacular!

First off, I'm not a negative person and I don't regularly complain.

We had a group of 30+ people rent 20 rooms all throughout the Del. We heard no less than 5 times a day from arrogant and rude staff that "this is reserved for members only," or "you aren't allowed to be here." Apparently we didn't spend enough money over the 3 nights to justify good service. The staff wouldn't smile, would walk right past you, and generally act the same as any Holiday Inn or Best Western.

I even asked security to open the gym 1 hour early for us to allow for a workout before meetings and they said we would need to clear it with the fitness center. They unpolitely and unapologetically said "no."

The rooms were okay, the beach was nice and the food was insanely expensive. An order of chicken wings and a cheeseburger through room service ended up being $50.

This place is popular because it's trendy and is steeped in tradition and culture. Save your money and don't give this place more reason to treat normal people like peasants.

The staff was exceptionally helpful and friendly. I felt like a king for a week. I had a wonderfully comfortable room. I liked the great atmosphere. The food was exceptional. The price was reasonable. I stayed in the off season. I got a free upgrade room! I was so relaxed. I liked the clean, safe, private beach. I will be back every year.

This hotel made me feel sophisticated: This is a place that draws entertainers and other dignitaries because of the safe and esthetic appeal. I felt like I was treated like a dignitary.

It was a great location, with excellent food and service and plenty of surrounding area to explore and walk. It is a wonderful historic hotel in tip top shape.

This hotel made me feel content: They had electronic locks, security personnel on site and plenty of staff around.

My family and I have had to fortune to stay at "The Del" a number of times. The service is impeccable. Definitely get to know the people at the concierge, they can make your stay truly memorable.

We once asked for a nicer room and were delighted to be personally escorted around the hotel and shown a great variety of rooms and suites. We settled on room #3400, a two room full ocean view suite on the third floor of the Victorian Building. The concierge recommended this room and it was worth it.

As you spend more money, expect the service and enjoyment to increase geometrically.
