Hotel City Guest House - Page 1

Hi all

had a great stay at the City guest. Stayed in the rooms at the fifth floor that apparently are better.. more stylish.

Staff is real helpful and willing to give a hand at all times. Had my wallet stolen and was offered by a receptionist (Anna) a small loan!!

Rooms are clean and cozy. Roof garden breakfast, very beautiful. Coffee super! Restaurant is outstanding.. and neighborhood truly offers authentic encounters.

YET.. remember that if you are looking for a centrally located hotel in Rome, City Guest House is not at walking distance to the center.

I found not being in city center added to an "indigenous" feel of Rome. I didn't feel like a tourist.. funny feeling.

We stayed at this hotel while in Rome for four nights. Upon the first night, our shower flooded the room completely. The shower needed some silicone to seal an edge on it. We immediately notified the front desk. The next day when we got back to our nothing had been done. I called the front desk and was told "the work order had been put in". That evening again we showered and flooded our room and spent 45 minutes trying to mop it up with only two towels and a wash cloth. We were not even given extra towels or a bath mat after telling the hotel of the problem. We were totally blown off! The third day when we spoke to the front desk and again were assured it would be fixed.

I was just getting tired of mopping and cleaning the floor after each shower above not being able to take a good shower for fear the water would hit the electrical cords five feet from the shower in the bedroom area! Nothing was ever done in our four nights of staying there. We spoke with the manager on our last day there as to why the shower was never even looked at in our room. He said he just returned from the weekend and heard about it. He continued to be very condescending and got into a heated argument with another party traveling with us. He completely disrespected us as guests of the hotel he was managing and would not even address the shower problem with us without saying it was and I quote "Not his fault"! His deal to us was that he would give us a 10% discount to someone we would recommend to stay there. I wouldn't let my dogs stay at that hotel. The staff and the manager were the worst example of customer service and having integrity that I have ever come across. My husband and I travel the world for a living and we have never been treated this way anywhere and we have been doing our job for 20 and 40 years respectively. Do not pay good money to stay here. The manager is horrible, unprofessional, rude, and inexperienced in dealing with his customers.
