Hotel Chelsea

This hotel was a great deal and the ideal location, we had a blast. We walked and rented scooters to see the sights, so much fun. The rooms were clean, cool, and very romantic. However, our wonderful experience turned into a nightmare on the night before our departure. The hotel hosted a Barcardi party which started at 6pm. The models and guest from Barcardi were gone by 8pm. Now this is the kicker! Our room number was 105 which is three steps from the hotel lobby (you can cover the entire lobby in 10 steps). There was a DJ set up with very large speakers directly outside of our room. Since we did not want to rain on the party goers parade, we asked if we could be moved to another room, since our flight was at 5am. The General manager had agreed to move us with no problem, while waiting at the counter she spoke to the desk clerk and apparently didn't have any available rooms. Then the nightmare began. I asked if we could move to one of her other hotels, that's when she blew my hair back, she told me that it was at her discretion to move us and she was not going to move us. And so I asked if they could at least turn the music down, she said no sweetie I will not, the band has a permit until midnight. She proceeded to walk away with her friends (we are outside the hotel on the sidewalk). I caught up with her and asked if her hotel guest were important to her and especially since we have paid in full. She said, "no" the guest were not as important as the band. I was in complete shock of the General Manager comments. I couldn't believe this was the same person I met on our first arrival date. My recommendation is to request a room on the second floor far away from the lobby if you need a few hours of sleep, or stay at the hotel next door. Thanks to all the other staff members, they were wonderful.

I booked my stay online with The Hotel Chelsea. We were supposed to have shuttle service to and from the airport., but the shuttle never showed up. Throughout our stay we never saw a shuttle. When we asked to arrange service back to the airport, one of the employees finally admitted that the shuttle doesn't actually come to the Chelsea and that I would not be able to arrange shuttle service. We spent almost $100 in taxis!

The entire hotel staff was rude and unhelpful. The rooms were tiny, dark (literally one little lamp) and the shades and telephone were broken. For the duration of our stay, housekeeping cleaned our room only once.

The website also boasts "free drinks every night from 7pm to 8pm." On the first night, we were charged $11 a drink. On Sunday, the bar was not even open.

Finally, on top of a surprise resort fee, we were charged an increased room rate! The woman I contacted at the hotel even created a fake reservation email which she said was sent to me and included disclaimer information on the fees and shuttle! She then refused to remove the fee or reimburse for the taxi rides.

I would never again stay at this hotel and would discourage anyone thinking about staying here.

It was a noisy hotel because they had loud music constantly playing, sometimes there was a DJ and people at the bar hanging out. But my room was on the top floor in the back so it was really quiet and I loved the room. We spent most of the time out but found the room to be cozy when we were there.

This hotel made me feel entertained: There was a happy hour every night at seven, the drinks were not great but it was a nice break in the day. Also they had a DJs and music.

The staff was extremely friendly and efficient. The room was very comfortable and nicely decorated. The hotel is in a great location -- within two blocks of the beach, and within easy walking distance of nightclubs, restaurants, bars, etc. The hotel had an older European feel to it.
