Price and location are the two very excellent reasons why we most recommend this hotel. If you check out the prices you will see that, for Venice, it is excellent value for its category. As well as this, it is fantastically located right opposite the Santa Lucia railway station on the banks of the Grand Canal. This means that a short walk over the Ponte degli Scalzi Bridge brings you to the main vaporetto water bus stops, from here all Venice and its Lido are at your fingertips. The hotel itself is very acceptable too! It is family-run and is to be found in a typical 18th century Venetian palazzo. There is a beautiful internal courtyard/garden where guests may enjoy breakfast 'al fresco'. Many ceilings have the characteristic wooden beams and the furnishings are in a classic antique style. There is also a small bar. All rooms have private bathroom, telephone, TV, hairdryer and are air-conditioned. This really is an excellently priced way to see Venice!

Get ready to live the Venice experience by staying at Canal & Walter hotel, located in a Venitian 18th century palace looking on to the Canal Grande, and carefully restored, considering not only the aesthetic but also the tradition. Hall:The reception staff of Canal & Walter Hotel welcomes you from the Venitian 18th century styled hall and puts at your complete disposal its knowledge and courtesy in order to assure you an unforgettable stay. Garden Bar: A rarity amongst the hotels in Venice, the characteristic interior garden at Canal & Walter Hotel winks vain at the well-curb that thrones in the middle of a gazebo made of climbing roses and wistaria. Here you will enjoy the rigenerating breeze of the garden and the refreshing feeling of a drink from our bar at the ground floor. The garden is also the ideal location for breakfast during the summer. Rooms: Our rooms are situated on 2 floors between the two wings structured in the hotel. The furniture and the facilities wed the baroque atmosphere of the 18th century at the functionality of their comforts: satellite TV, air conditioning, direct telephone, minibar, safe box, private bathroom with hairdryer. Some with a view on the canals and some with a view over the garden, our rooms are guaranteed by a high standard of hygiene which we are proud to boast.

Excellent
We paid extra for a canal view which was well worth it. It was a little noisy but being woken up by gondeliers singing and motor boats zooming past was offset by the quiet moments when all you can hear is the water of the canal gently lapping...
We stayed at the Hotel Canal for three nights in Sept. 2007. It's located conveniently close to Piazzala Roma (about a ten-minute walk over two bridges),from where we had taken the bus from Marco Polo airport.
Great hotel! Located near the train station which was convenient. Staff was helpful, stored our luggage before we checked in. Room was nice with a decent view.
