We were not informed that there was construction scheduled right outside our window for all night long. Jack hammers, large steel I-beams being unloaded- loud vibrations felt- all night long. The...

Good
The Kimpton brand of hotels prides itself on offering comfortable boutique accommodations in historically significant settings. A night at downtown Chicago’s Hotel Burnham marked my first experience with the brand. This highly ranked hotel...

I love this Hotel -- and will certainly be back! I didn't know what to expect, after reading the other reviews, I was a bit apprehensive. I even called the hotel to address some of the issues presented in review sites. I decided to take a gamble mainly because I'd never stayed at a Hotel of this brand (meaning I leaned toward those big name hotels, which I will avoid doing in the future! Something to be said and learned from this -- the smaller ones devote more attention to you!) The staff was remarkable -- and even the special treatment and attention to detail in e-mail correspondences about my upcoming stay was welcoming!! Rooms were quaint and beautifully decorated, comfortable and quiet. The noise factor was important because I was traveling with a toddler that brings along his own noise and excitement -- yet it couldn't be heard outside the walls of our room. Ideal location for my purpose and is ideal for anyone looking for the perfect hotel -- located in the Theatre district! Tried booking a room already for the same day next year -- but Kimpton doesn't have their reservations available this early . . . Highly recommend this hotel, for many reasons -- but the best explanation is . . . stay for the experience it offers! A historic hotel, with the charm you'd expect from that Era.

I could never forget (with bitterness) my stay at Hotel Burnham. I came back to get some much needed sleep after a working day in Chicago, and jack hammers started going off outside the hotel at around 10:30 PM. After waiting for an hour I called the front-desk and was told that it was approved construction and will go on ALL NIGHT ! Front-desk suggested I turn on the Channel on TV where there was some white noise. I think it is pathetic - they should have warned me or at least indicated that my room location would get all night jack hammers noise.

Excellent
A perfect hotel for a group of architecture students. Very awesome views from the large picture windows in the rooms. Beds were very comfortable and the decore was very in touch with a hotel of its price. There was a restaurant on the first floor ...
The Kimpton Hotels are wonderful. Construction on State St. made it a bit difficult to get to, but follow the signs and the street crew will let you through the barricades. We had a corner room which was decorated in the usual Kimpton...
Noisy Construction Mars a great hotel

Mediocre
Construction is happening across the street from the hotel, ALL NIGHT LONG - including weekends. The hotel is just as good as all the other reviewers point out - but get a guarantee that you'll be on the top few floors before you go...
