28 year old female with a moderate budget, traveling for leisure

It’s Saturday night and we wanted to go out on the town and have some fun. We decided to get a room downtown so we could go for dinner and drinks and not worry about driving. We arrived at the hotel to find that our reservations were incorrectly inputted into the computer for 5 rooms the night before. We were worried that our card may have charges from this but they assured us everything was taken off and we were given some $10 coupons to use in the hotel.

We then decided to head down to the pool for a refreshing dip in the hot Arizona sun. I was trying to step down the ladder into the pool and the first half of the rungs on the ladder were completely missing and I came very close to slipping.

After getting ready for dinner we decided to head down to the hotel bar for some appetizers while we waited for our friends. Our friends showed up and joined us at the bar and we were also joined by “The Muppets” on one of the TV’s in the bar. The TV was distracting and annoying to all 4 of us and we were the only people in the bar so my husband asked the bartender if he could change the channel. The bartender said he wasn’t sure what was on. We were having so much fun with our friends we didn’t think about the bartender’s comment until “The Muppets” broke their way into our conversation again. My husband then asked the bartender if he could change the channel again and the bartender told him he could change the channel on the big screen TV behind the bar. Again we went back to our conversation not paying much attention to the bartender until “The Muppets” broke through our conversation once again. My husband got up and asked the bartender to show him where the controls were for the big screen TV and how to change the channel. He asked the bartender if it would change the channel on the TV in the bar and the bartender said no. My husband asked him if he change the channel on the TV in the bar because we didn’t want to watch “The Muppets” and the bartender told him he could just use the big screen TV. Now my husband was very upset and started arguing with the bartender but he wouldn’t budge, my husband was so furious he dropped the “F” word into the argument and the bartender yelled at us and told us we would have to leave. We got our checks and went to the front desk to complain. When the manager came he listened to part of our story and basically told us the bartender had a different story and that was his domain. When I tried to pipe up and put in my two cents the manager wouldn’t even look at me and told my husband the conversation was with him and my husband and not with me or our friends, who trying to explain also. The manager continued to argue and pointed his finger at my husband who was furious and I stepped up to the counter, interjected, and asked for the card of his boss. The night manager told me that his decision was final and it did not matter if I talked to anyone in the morning. I asked him to give me his card anyways. We left the hotel and went about our night trying to forget about the rudeness we experienced at the hotel.

In the morning my husband went to the front desk to talk to someone about the night before. He told the story to the clerk behind the counter. The clerk looked in the computer and saw that the night manager had put a note in our file not to give us any discounts for being unhappy. The clerk understood how we felt, was very nice, apologized, and gave us a discount and some more coupons. It wasn’t about the money, although that helps you feel better, it was about the rudeness of the bartender and night manager. No one would listen to us and obviously with some of the night staff at the Hotel Arizona the customer is always wrong.

It is a great place and location. They charged for parking in their lot which was the only black mark.

I am somewhat likely to return to the Hotel Arizona.
I might recommend it to friends.

When we got to the hotel, the staff was rude and unhelpful.

We checked in and went up to our room on the 12th floor. We opened the door and the room was a mess, the beds were unmade and there were soda bottles on the floor every ware. We went down to the front desk and they changed our room. Th

en one of us took a shower with no problems and then the second shower we took the water wouldn't turn off. So we called the front desk and they were very rude again. The man came to fix it and said that they just get stuck sometimes in a very rude way.

The last problem that could possibly happen was that we couldn't check out, and it happened. We get to the front desk and were told that we weren't in the system. Again, the staff was very rude. They then had to check us back in and charge us for two separate nights. The best apology we got from the senior staff was "Sorry about that." Then from the manager on duty, nothing.

Then after that the new kid that had almost no experience with anything out of the ordinary said "Sorry for the inconvenience and thanks for staying so calm."

I am not likely to return to the Hotel Arizona.
I would not recommend it to friends.
