Originally built in 1898 the Hotel has gone through many changes and the original building has gone through a series of major and continuous renovations since 2001, with the accent on retaining the historical feel of this landmark building whilst providing all the modern amenities one would expect from a contemporary Hotel. The rooms and bathrooms have been completely overhauled and tastefully appointed.
Our main bar, The Polo Tavern, is one of downtown Aiken?s most popular watering holes. The Tiki Tavern located on the back patio has already been awarded the title of ?Best New Bar? in Aiken for 2006 by readers of the prestigious Augusta Magazine.

Okay
Beautiful historic hotel, WILD nightlife at the Polo Tavern, Excellent hot breakfast buffet included in room rate. But - if you're travelling w/ young kids, no pool, not a real kids environment. It took about 10 min for hot water to reach our room...

Its great to see that hotels like this still exist in this country.
It's old and modern at the same time. The location is terrific, right in downtown where you can walk to all the stores and other restaurants and bars. We stayed in the old building and the room was clean and very comfortable. We used the hard-wired hi-speed internet, which was free, and always worked.
The main bar was just great but our favorite was the outside Tiki bar. We can see how some people might not like the noise, but we just thought that this is the kind of place every town needs: a place to drink, listen to great music, and stroll up to your room. The cooked breakfast was a true bonus.
