Let me first say that I am a Sales Manager working in a major hotel chain. I stay in hotels frequently and LOVE Branson. This experience is based mostly on the worst customer service I have ever received!
I arrived at the hotel near 10:30pm and it took over 30 minutes to check in! Bob was the desk agent who was assisting me and it appeared that he had not been trained in even the basic operation of the property management computer system. He couldn't even provide my Sister who checked in before me a receipt showing she had indeed paid for her room!
When I mentioned my last name ( I was staying with my extended family- sort of a Family Reunion) He and the other desk agent began making fun of my Aunt who apparently had already experienced their poor level of service. I found out later that the reason she had been in the office was to get our group's rate corrected. It appears that they charged my family more than was quoted because they sold out!!!! No notice of this in advance- they just raised the rate when my parents checked in!! My Parents are not pushy people and just accepted this change versus fighting with the desk agent. My Aunt couldn't believe this when she heard it and went to correct it. Apparently it ended up a very heated argument but they finally did lower the rate to the quoted rate.
I finally get to me room (which was large for a hotel room) and found it to smell quite musty. It was also quite warm and so I turned the AC unit on max- but to my disappointment it never did cool the room for any of the 3 days I was there! (NOTE: the AC units in the 4 other rooms my Family used did not work well either) The bathroom had a large water stain on the ceiling that appeared to have mildew growing around it. The bed had the worst pillows I've ever laid my head on! I had to find a spare blanket to put under the pillow just to get to sleep. Then the next day we went to the hot tub and the water was brown and foam with some kind of dark scum was all around the edges of the hot tub. I attempted to connect to the internet using WIFI which is advertised on the website and found a signal ( 4 of 5 bars ) but no connection to the interent. No one else in my group could connect either so I finally called the front desk. Bob (again) told me that a part was broke but I could come closer to the office and connect (which my Uncle attempted without success). I asked Bob for some compensation due to the lack of promised amenities. Bob refused and HUNG up on me!! I called back and Bob said that he was told to tell me that no compensation would be given and HUNG up on me again. Again, I called Bob and this time I asked to speak to the General Manager of the hotel. Bob told me that Jeannette was not working at the time. I asked when I might speak to Jeannette and Bob said he would tell her I wanted to speak with her and again HUNG up on me!!
A few minutes later the General Manager, Jeannette, did indeed call me. I explained all of this again and she would not offer any compensation! Not even as much as a discount on a future stay!!!! Jeannette claimed that she does not represent that WIFI is available in her guestrooms, despite Bob telling me that the broken part was the reason the system wasn't working in the guestrooms! I reminded Jeannette of her website which I had up on my Blackberry that promoted her WIFI- she again denied that the site makes the claim. I told her that my only recourse then would be to tell others about the way that my entire Family was treated at her hotel. She said I could slander her if I wanted!!!
I have stayed, literally, in at least 30 different hotels in Branson and have never experienced anything like the Honeysuckle Inn! The website makes it look so nice, and it does from the street, but do not expect to be treated well by this establishment!!
Please stay away for your own protection!!!
