Homewood Suites by Hilton Chapel Hill

This had the potential for a nice stay....but they messed that up by not listing that their hotel was under renovation. Had I known I would never have booked. I arrived very late due to traffic (around 3am) to check-in. I always request a top flr room because I'm a very light sleeper and can't handle hearing people walking above me while I'm trying to rest. That wasn't even mentioned by the front desk person. I ended up on the 3rd floor of 4 floors. On my way up to the room I get off the elevator and see this mess that looks like a bomb hit the hotel. Renovations. I watched my step carefully because the carpet was not tacked down. Get to my room because I was so tired from driving and traffic woes that I just wanted a shower. I had to be at a seminar by 8am. Go to turn the water on in the shower and there was hair. Go to dry my hair and there was hair in the blowdryer. I was disgusted and just went to bed. I had a wake up call and before they could wake me the contractors outside did with their nailing and drilling! I became ill that next nite and needed to take medicine which required food with it. I didn't have anything in the room so I called the front desk to see if the pantry (suite shoppe) was still open. No one answered the phone after three tries. So I managed to go down to ask and stood there for a minute or so before just calling back to see if anyone was back there in the back. The same guy from the previous nite I checked in came out from his lounger. Not even in uniform. The pantry only had chips, candy and tomato soup. There was a whole cooling unit with nothing in it. They didn't bother to restock it I gather. Anyway, on my way out I asked for the GM (who doesn't work weekends, of course) and the front desk person just gave me his information without even asking if she could help me with anything. Didn't even bother to ask how my stay was. So I contacted the GM who didn't bother to respond until I called Hilton's Guest Services. He responded then....with a refund of my stay.

Homewood Suites by Hilton is the best possible place to stay -- with amenities -- for the money.

This was the first time we stayed at a Homewood Suites and it was a wonderful experience.

This hotel made me feel pampered: I felt pampered there, they had whatever I needed available to me. Having the manager check up on my needs.
