My stay here was fantastic! I was here on business for 15 days in February of all times and had THE best experience. EVERYONE at the Homewood Suites are wonderful and make you feel so welcomed. I stayed in 401 and the housekeeping staff was superb. I left a $2.00 tip everyday only because I use to clean hotel rooms in college and know what a thankless job this is. The cleaning staff took extra care to make my stay comfortable from turning down my bed, to cleaning my dishes and wrapping up my flat iron cord. The front desk crew from Robert to Molly to all the others were great. You can't beat breakfast in the morning. Eggs, sausage, bacon, cereal, coffee, tea, toast, bagels, etc.,. In the winter you can warm your car up and go inside to a hot breakfast and grab a hot cup of coffee while your car is warming up. Mario and and his group put on a nice spread and he is a real sweetheart! At night you come home to a nice warm fire and supper made. Partake in an adult beverage beer or wine and can either eat with others or take it up to your room and eat. They do not serve dinner on Friday, Saturday or Sundays. The only complaint I had was that there is only 3 washers and dryers for the entire hotel and it is $1.75 for each load and there is no change machine. You need to make sure you get change from the front desk as the laundry room is on the other side of the hotel which is quite a distance. One of the washers and dryer was broken the 2 weeks I was there which was a little frustrataing walking back and forth trying to get in line to do your clothes. Not sure why they couldn't or wouldn't fix the units. The refrigerator was full size with a freezer on top and there was a two burner stove with a microwave convection oven combo and a full size dishwasher. I went to New Sagaya which is an excellent Asian Fish Market on Old Seward Hwy for my groceries and also at the Univ. Of Alaska across the street there is a Health Food Store for organic vegetables and earthy goodies. Also a liquor store. The kitchen even had a wine opener, utensils of course and paper towels, coffee, tea, sugar. Around the Homewood Suites there is a Starbucks, Taco Del Mar (to open soon), TGIF, good room service with great Halibut chips, a fantastic Sushi place called Peter's Sushi Spot. Apple B's and several Steak places. It is only about 10-15 mintues from the airport and downtown. I saw a moose in the field in front of my room which was exciting to watch. You don't have to pay for parking here which is a benefit compared to downtown. The only thing I was not prepared for was that is was -16 degrees and I did not have an ice scraper or a brush to brush off the snow when it snowed. So if you are planning to be here in winter make sure you ask the car rental company for these items or make sure you invest in these. They aren't very expensive and are a necessity. Take a trip on the Seward Hwy to Seward. Breathtaking. If you have to be away from home I would definately stay at the Homewood Suites. Well worth the money.
