I normally stay at other hotels, but from now on I am staying here. It is so close to the Capitol, they have free wireless, and a convenient tasty breakfast--fresh waffles. It was completely clean and comfortable with a great TV, iron, microwave and

My family after traveling 13 hours to get there was told we had no reservation-
We showed them the paper confirmation made in June from Orbitz. They then blamed Orbitz for not faxing them the information and added they turned away 4 other bookings the night before. The state fair was in town so we were out of luck and sleeping in the car- what killed me was how the so called management showed no interest in helping us or fixing an obvious problem. For instance- they said belatedly they turned away 4 bookings the previous evening yet made no effort to contact Orbitz about the potential problem- and I'm guessing still haven't. The hotel administration also looks to be an outfit that cuts corners at every opportunity- you could tell -they were an increase profit at every opportunity- it's a cheap place. They suggested I go online and look for rooms somewhere else- they had 1 computer in the lobby and get this as hotel staff member was on it checking his email and WOULDN'T GET OFF.
I don't know who is actually in charge- I was passed off the various people claiming to be the manager and thus lied when they sent me to the next person- it's family run and they have not a clue as to how to run a hotel-a hotel maid was enlisted to check us in and quickly was lost shockingly

I stayed here at the end of May as I was in Springfield on business. I don't mind staying at a budget motel once in awhile, but any price is too much for this place. It needs a complete rehab. Their standards of cleanliness are unbelievable. Any review that gives this hotel a "decent" rating was probably written by the owners of the hotel.
If there was a minus 5 available to rate this hotel, this is what I would give it. The decor looks like it came from Salvation Army. It is not clean, it smells, there was bugs the list goes on and on. The continental breakfast includes stale bagels. Do your self a favor stay away.

I stayed at the Homestyle Inn for 5 full days in March 2008. It was very nice. I'll have to admit, that after reading all the reviews here, I was very very nervous about staying here for such a long period of time. But it was nice.
The location was excellent, as it was walking distance from the place of business I had to work at, parking was excellent as I had a space right at my room window, reservations were done online, checking was prompt, management was very courteous and the room was on the 1st floor as I requested since there is no elevator.
The room was fine with me. They gave me a very large bathroom which was for the handicapped and very very spacious with a shower chair. I am not handicapped, but the space was great, good hot water, nice shower and heat lamps. The room has a microwave and refrigerator, both looked to be brand new. The heating / air conditioner worked great. Many stations on the cable TV with great reception. The bed was very comfortable. There is a small bedside clock, but not clock radio. However, as a frequent traveler, I took my own.
The Homestyle Inn has a nice breakfast kiosk with a waffle maker, assorted cereals, 2% milk, bagels, breads, juice, fresh fruits, coffee (regular and decaf), condiments, bottled water, sweet rolls and danishes. This is all complimentary and available from 6am to 9am. Every morning, the coffee was promptly ready at 6am!
There is a computer in the lobby which provides 24 hour access to the Internet. They also have laundry facilities with a washer and dryer for $1.50 each.
The area was very quiet, I slept well every night as the bed was very comfortable.
There is also vending canteens on the first floor with snacks, beverages and ice.
The front desk was very responsive to my request. I requested early morning maid service and my room was prepared every single morning before noon as requested.
The rate was good especially in consideration of the free complimentary continental breakfast every morning.
I have a few criticism which are that the room had a smoky odor from the day I arrived until I checked out 5 days later. Maid-service should spray every day to resolve that. The decorum was not the best with the blue rug. There was a smoke detector dangling from the ceiling but the light was on, so I assumed it worked. However, none of those small problems were significant.
I would like to inform reviewers that my stay there was during the 3rd week of March 2008. My review is current, non-biased and accurate. I am a very critical reviewer of hotels and my review here is based on truth.
Would I stay there again? Absolutely YES! I highly recommend Springfield's Homestyle Inn to travelers! Give them a chance. Apparently this hotel is under new management and they are indeed doing a good job.
I do come in Springfield every year for state fair and some business,it is totally turn around property now, who ever seen "Best Inn" please go back and take a look again,Now it is "Homestyle Inn & Suites" and they have done lots of changes inside and out. All the room has microwave / refrigerator, Iron, iron board, nice neat and clean property, very good customer service, always helpful staff in every aspects, plus this property is very close to the down town and all the attractions is in waling distances,Downtown fine dining restaurants and night life is also walking distance,

My experience with this hotel was completely terrible! Not only was my room not ready when I got there, but the rooms were pathetic! An alleged non-smoking room smelled of old, stale cigarette smoke, the bathtubs were completely unusable (very rusted, dirty, etc.), and the management was very unsimpathetic to our complaints. To make matters even worse, they charged me two nights for a one night stay, which I am still fighting for a refund! I would sleep in my car before I stay in this hotel again!
My husband confirmed a reservation a week prior to arrival, but when he got there they had the room, but wanted to charge him $40.00 over the reservation. They told him that they had just purchased the place the day before and they were not honoring ...

I wish I had seen these reviews before we went to Springfield. Take all of the above reviews, add the points values together and they shouldn't total "1". The shower curtains were moldy, the shower had mold, the light switches on the lamps were broken, no remote for TV, side entrance had dead leaves (obviously there since the Fall) and dead bugs, there was an ice machine but no ice bucket, we talked to someone who couldn't get sheets and went out and bought her own. We weren't too surprised there wasn't a coffee pot, but there wasn't even a cup to use to brush your teeth. Live and learn - read reviews!
