We stayed there for a month. It is centrally located with pretty good rooms, although NOT worth over $75 a night. They will negotiate once you get there, we paid $61 per night in April. The restaurant is ok, and there is a breakfast buffet but it is way over priced. The female bartender could not be more rude, night after night she was just awful, but the male bartender is very personable. Walk across the parking lot to The Country Oven, as they have a buffet breakfast lunch and dinner everyday. The water is absolutely TERRIBLE and tastes like sewer water. Bring your own if you want to drink water. The laundry is across the courtyard, a little walk if you stay in the main building, which I would try to do if I were you. The staff is pleasant. The door keys NEVER work and we had to have ours rekeyed many many many times. Everyone was having problems with that, and they say they are aware of the problem, but it wasn't fixed in the month we were there. A real PAIN! The grounds are very well kept as is the pool area. Plenty of parking. The location is perfect, a very short drive to the beaches, a grocery store across the street, restaurants close by as well as shopping. Really the only place to stay, unless you do the Bed and Breakfast routine on the island, which is just around the corner and over the bridge. Now for the pet owners!
SubStation Road is the little road that runs down beside the hotel. It is a 2 block road down to a dead end. One would think that it is the perfect place to walk your dogs, right? Wrong! On April 23rd, I had our 2 dogs down there, leashed, and was attacked by 2 Pit Bulls that came running down their driveway. A HORRIBLE expierence that resulted in hospital visits for me, and emergency surgery for one of our dogs. I had 2 with me at the time, luckily I was able to protect the smaller one. The police and animal control were called, and this is the 3rd time this onwer had been cited for loose dogs. I suggested to the staff that they post a sign on the desk warning people not to walk their dogs down that road, which they have done. As of yet, the citation for this event has not taken place yet, as the court date has not been set. Regardless, I am warning you STRONGLY, not to take a chance on these dogs not being loose again. You cannot imagine the horror and pain associated with an attack like this. Keep your dogs on the Holiday Inn property and you'll be fine. We would stay there again, but for a long stay, get a suite. The beds were very comfortable, and the housekeeping staff is very friendly and helpful. Enjoy!
