This was our third visit to Bar Harbor and each time we tried a different hotel.
We had a wonderful stay here. The dinning room had a beautiful open view of the poolside, gardens and Frenchman's Bay.
There was also a lobster pond and tiki bar outside and a nice place for walking.
This hotel is next to the ferry for Nova Scotia so we got to see it leaving which we enjoyed.
The staff were friendly and the food very good. They had a very good breakfast buffet that was a little pricy but worth it. Our room was clean and the beds comfortable. Our room wasn't in the Frenchman's Bay building but my sister's room was and she liked it.
I can't think of one bad thing to say about the hotel. We had a wonderful stay and plan to go back.

Horrible
This hotel took our reservations and money and when we got to Bar Harbor we found out they were closed for the season. They didn't even call us to tell us. We are trying to get our money back.

Loved the pool view right on the ocean. My nine year old wouldn't get out of it. The grounds are beautifully landscaped with gorgeous flowers. The food in the hotel restaurant is excellent, especially the buffet. Staying at the hotel can be pricey, but I find going to Bar Harbor is pricey! Most restaurants are expensive so be ready to bring your wallet. There is the lobster pound restaurant right on the property, more casual than the hotel restaurant, and so convenient! The trolley to town stops here so it is easy to catch a ride and leave your car behind. We have gone there a few days for the last 3 years. We have found the experience a great one overall.

We arrived at 9:30pm and were not given the room we booked and paid for. Yes, had we not shown up we would have been charged for a king room with a water view that they had given to someone else. Instead we were placed in a room with an unusual aroma and two very dusty beds that was situated next to the stairwell -- no elevators in this building! I was awakened several times during the night by the fire door slamming shut.
The lady behind the desk was rude. "Too bad" was her tonal message while adding that if we didn't want the room, we could leave. The following day we were moved to the room we had reserved but that bed was lumpy with wells" formed by previous guests. Neither my husband nor I had a good night sleep during our stay, and he can generally sleep anywhere! This was an expensive exercise that I would not repeat.
We ate breakfast at the hotel on our final morning. The food was exceptionally good for a buffet. The dining room staff was friendly and attentive. For this reason I gave the hotel 3 points on your scale.
After our stay in Bar Harbor we meandered down to another Maine town that had no "brand name" hotels. For half the price, we stayed in a somewhat dated motel with no view and no balcony but we slept soundly on comfortable mattresses with great linens -- just what we needed after a day of touring. What a welcome change of pace.

Okay
Spent three days here in August. First the good news, location is great - equally distant from downtown Bar Harbor and Arcadia National Park. Beds were very comfortable and the pool area is excellent, especially if you have children.
Now the bad...
Nice, helpful, international staff.

Good
Nice, helpful, international staff. Excellent dinner in the smaller restaurant out near the dock. Our son enjoyed the pool - beautiful view of the harbor. Shuttle to and from town. We would stay there again.

Good
After reading the reviews on this hotel, we were a little nervous about what to expect. However, after arriving, our worries were put to rest. The pool and grounds were absolutely beautiful. The breakfast buffet was fun every morning looking out...

We had a problem with a painting crew starting very early outside our room. They were very noisey. Called front desk and nothing was done until another complaint was issued an hour...
